Opening of the 10th National Phu Dong Sports Festival

In his opening speech, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said that after more than 40 years of formation and development, this National Phu Dong Sports Festival is the largest school Sports Festival ever. The successes of the Phu Dong Sports Festival at all levels in the past demonstrate the care for the young generation of schools, families and society and the efforts of student athletes. The Minister requested all athletes, referees and the Organizing Committee to ensure that the 10th National Phu Dong Sports Festival takes place safely, honestly, nobly, with the highest educational spirit; hoping that students will consider this an opportunity to learn rather than seek awards, to show their best self rather than win or lose; hoping that parents, teachers, team leaders and coaches will not turn the desire for achievements of adults into pressure, competitiveness or harm the spirit of students.

This year's Phu Dong Sports Festival has nearly 9,000 athletes from 63 provinces and cities across the country participating. Athletes compete in the following sports: Table tennis, volleyball, swimming, soccer, martial arts, shuttlecock, basketball, badminton, athletics, tug of war, and gymnastics. The competition period is from now until August 6, held at 19 locations in Hai Phong city.

Participating in the 10th National Sports Festival in 2024, Son La delegation has 129 athletes competing in 10 events including: Athletics, Taekwondo, women's football, badminton, tug of war, Karate, basketball, table tennis, volleyball and chess.
