Urgently overcome flood consequences

QTO - Immediately after the floodwaters receded, local authorities, armed forces, medical staff and people in some localities in the southern part of Quang Tri province urgently began to work to overcome the consequences. From cleaning up mud and soil, repairing houses to disinfecting and sterilizing the environment, all have the same goal of stabilizing life soon.

Since early this morning, the Defense Command of Region 4 - Trieu Phong, the militia and self-defense force of Dien Sanh commune and teachers have been present to clean up Hai Thanh Kindergarten. With the motto "4 on-site", the work of overcoming the consequences of the flood was urgently deployed. The classrooms were cleaned; the electricity and water systems were checked again before welcoming children back to school.

Teacher Tran Thi Hue, Vice Principal of Hai Thanh Kindergarten, Dien Sanh Commune, said: “The school has few teachers, while the amount of garbage and mud is a lot. If we cleaned it ourselves, it would take us many days. This morning, with the help of the army and militia, the work was completed quickly, and we will soon welcome the children back to school next week.”

Lieutenant Colonel Tran Ngoc Dinh, Deputy Political Commissar of the Defense Command of Region 4 - Trieu Phong said: "Under the direction of the Military Region and the Provincial Military Command, the unit deployed the highest number of troops. Although it was a holiday, we still mobilized from 70 to 100% of the troops to help people overcome the consequences of the flood in the best way."

At the same time, the medical team of Dien Sanh commune was also present as soon as the water receded. They divided themselves to go to each residential area, disinfecting, treating water sources and instructing people on environmental sanitation. Up to this point, Dien Sanh commune has provided 21 kg of chemicals and 3 batches of medicine to the areas.

Ms. Phan Thi Hang, Deputy Head of Dien Sanh Commune Health Station, said: “After the storm and flood, diseases such as pink eye, cholera, hand, foot and mouth disease, etc. can occur. To proactively prevent them, we have mobilized people to clean their houses. Next, medical staff will go directly to the area to examine and instruct people on disease prevention.”

Not only the authorities, but also the people in the low-lying areas have proactively cleaned their houses, dredged sewers, and collected garbage. The spirit of solidarity and mutual assistance is evident in every action and every residential area, contributing to creating the premise for life to soon stabilize again.
