Urgently review the quality of Song Lo bridge project (Phu Tho)

Through press reports about the serious deterioration of the quality of some of the Song Lo bridge piers in Phu Tho province, with exposed steel reinforcements in some concrete piers, affecting the safety of the project, the Ministry of Construction requested the People's Committee of Phu Tho province and assigned the State Appraisal Department of Construction Quality and the Vietnam Road Administration to review and inspect the quality of the project.

The Ministry of Construction requested the People's Committee of Phu Tho province to assign the Department of Construction to organize an inspection of the current status of the project, direct and request the unit managing, exploiting and using the Song Lo bridge project and relevant agencies to implement the provisions in Clause 1, Article 40 of Decree No. 06/2021/ND-CP.

Accordingly, organize construction quality inspection; implement necessary measures such as restricting the use of construction, isolating dangerous areas or immediately repairing damage in case of risk of affecting the safety of use and operation of construction; establish and implement traffic plan adjustments (if necessary) in accordance with reality to ensure safety for people and property when traveling through this area.

The Ministry of Construction assigned the State Appraisal Department of Construction Quality to monitor, guide and coordinate with the Department of Construction in organizing inspection and assessment of the quality and bearing capacity of the Song Lo Bridge project, based on its functions and tasks.

At the same time, the Vietnam Road Administration is assigned to, based on its functions and tasks, guide and coordinate with relevant agencies under the People's Committee of Phu Tho province in organizing the control of traffic vehicles passing through Song Lo bridge, traffic separation, traffic organization and guiding people and vehicles traveling in both directions at the bridge head.
