Urgent rescue, bringing Da Nang people in flooded areas to safety

On the afternoon of October 28, a working delegation of the Military Region V Command led by Colonel Phan Dai Nghia, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Military Region, inspected flood prevention, control and recovery work in Da Nang city.

At the checkpoints in Ngu Hanh Son ward, Dien Ban ward..., Colonel Phan Dai Nghia listened to reports on the damage situation and response work of local authorities and functional forces, praising the proactive spirit and readiness to deal with floods of officers, soldiers and people. However, in the face of complicated weather developments, Colonel Phan Dai Nghia requested units and armed forces of the Military Region stationed in the area to continue to uphold their sense of responsibility, strictly implement instructions on flood and storm prevention and control; ensure enough human resources and means ready to mobilize for rescue 24/24 hours.

Colonel Phan Dai Nghia also requested units and armed forces of the Military Region to proactively help people transport valuable belongings and assets to higher positions, and promptly move people in dangerous areas, at risk of landslides and deep flooding to safe shelters; closely coordinate with local Party committees and authorities to prepare and promptly provide necessary necessities, not letting people go hungry or cold, especially in isolated areas. The Military Region will continue to closely coordinate with units of the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Public Security and local authorities, promote the spirit of "4 on-site", focus all efforts to respond to the complicated floods, especially evacuating people in Da Nang and Quang Ngai. The Military Region has also prepared logistics, food and provisions for long-term isolated areas and plans to mobilize forces to support people in overcoming the consequences after the flood recedes, with the goal of minimizing damage to people and property.

Faced with the complicated developments of the flood situation, the Military Region 5 Command has directed the Military Commands of Da Nang City and Quang Ngai Province to mobilize forces and means on the spot to promptly rescue people in the flood-prone areas. In addition, the Military Region Command has organized 5 working groups led by the Head of the Command and the agency in charge to travel to the two provinces and cities; coordinate with local authorities to inspect and direct flood and landslide prevention.
