(To Quoc) - On the evening of November 9th, the Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2024 was grandly inaugurated at the August Revolution Square, kicking off a series of community-oriented activities aimed at inspiring the creative spirit of Hanoi residents. The event was directed by the Hanoi People's Committee and organized by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, Architecture Magazine, and other participating units.
Attending the opening ceremony were Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu, leaders of Hanoi City, Head of UNESCO Office in Vietnam Jonathan Wallace Baker; and representatives of international organizations in Vietnam.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha said that Hanoi had just organized activities to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024), the 25th anniversary of the city being recognized by UNESCO as a "City for Peace ", and the 5th anniversary of being a "Creative City".
The city organized commemorative activities to recall the glorious historical traditions of the Vietnamese nation and of the army and people of Hanoi, highlighting the will and determination to utilize all resources to build a "Cultural - Civilized - Modern" capital city; a city connected globally.

After nearly five years as a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, Hanoi has undertaken many concrete activities to fulfill its commitments to building a "Creative City," gradually affirming its position as one of Asia's most dynamic and creative cities and capitals. The city has promoted creative design activities and fostered opportunities for cooperation among cities within the network.
“In 2024, the city established an expert advisory council, developed creative activity spaces, established criteria and creative activity spaces; and prepared the conditions for launching the Hanoi Creative Activity Coordination Center to connect units, organizations, individuals, experts, artists, and community groups working in the field of creative design.

"Attracting and connecting creative resources locally and internationally; introducing, sharing, and supporting the pilot implementation of new ideas, and initially forming a talent incubation center in the fields of creative design," said Vu Thu Ha, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee.
Commending Hanoi's efforts in building its "Creative City" brand, Jonathan Wallace Baker, Head of the UNESCO Office in Vietnam, stated that Hanoi has played an important role in the cooperation between Vietnam and UNESCO over the years.

Five years ago, Hanoi joined the UNESCO Creative Cities Network as a testament to its potential and creativity.
Jonathan Wallace Baker praised Hanoi's efforts in organizing creative activities that celebrate cultural heritage as well as the young creative community in Vietnam.
Organizing the Creative Design Festival is one of Hanoi's many diverse creative activities, a prime example of the city's progress in realizing its vision of becoming Vietnam's creative city and a regional creative hub.

The Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2024, themed "Creative Crossroads," took place from November 9th to 17th, attracting over 500 organizations, creators, architects, artisans, and especially many young artists in various design fields.
The festival is structured around seven iconic historical heritage sites in Hanoi, featuring over 100 creative activities across 12 cultural industries, including architecture, design, fine arts, performance, film, advertising, handicrafts, and publishing.

Locals and tourists can experience creative spaces from the August Revolution Square connecting the Ly Thai To - Le Thanh Tong street axis; the Bac Co slope - Trang Tien street axis including prominent architectural works such as the Children's Palace, the National History Museum, the University of Natural Sciences and cultural spaces around Hoan Kiem Lake, the Ly Thai To monument flower garden, Dien Hong, Co Tan, 19/8, and Tao Dan.
In addition, the festival features three iconic pavilions: the "Corridor of Innocence" at the Hanoi Children's Palace, the "Stream" in Dien Hong Flower Garden and the Northern Palace, and the "Dragon and Snake Ascending to the Clouds" at the National Historical Museum.

Iconic structures are positioned to interact with the heritage. Through this, creators aim to continue the creative narrative connected to the past, creating a unified whole between tradition and modernity.
During the festival, locals and tourists will have the opportunity to participate in and experience many activities at various locations. At the Hanoi Children's Palace, there will be more than 30 activities including exhibitions, presentations, film screenings, architectural installations, and performing arts.
The festival also includes more than 20 workshops and seminars on various fields: design, art, film, photography, fashion, technology, publishing, and other areas.
