According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from now until December 3rd, Northern Vietnam and North Central Vietnam will experience no rain at night, with some areas having fog in the early morning, and sunny days. It will be cold at night and in the morning.

Central and South Central Vietnam, and Southern Vietnam will experience scattered showers in some areas, with rain and scattered showers starting from the night of December 2nd. In particular, Southern Vietnam will have scattered showers and thunderstorms in some areas from the evening of December 2nd.

The Central Highlands will experience scattered showers in some areas, with scattered showers and thunderstorms in the southern part of the Central Highlands on the evening of December 3rd.

From the night of December 3rd to December 11th, Northern Vietnam will experience scattered rain, especially on December 5th and 6th. The nights and mornings will be cold, and from around the night of December 5th to December 6th, the weather is likely to turn cold again after a strengthening cold front arrives.

Northern and Central Vietnam will experience scattered rain, with Central Vietnam having scattered showers. From December 6th, Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai will have rain, showers, and scattered thunderstorms, with some areas experiencing heavy rain. The northern areas will be cold at night and early morning; from December 6th, Northern Central Vietnam may experience cold weather.

Other areas will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms, with scattered showers and thunderstorms from the night of December 3rd to December 7th, and locally heavy rain in some places.

During thunderstorms, there is a risk of tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind.

Key weather forecast for December 2024

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting's forecast for December, cold fronts are expected to increase in frequency and intensity. Severe cold spells are likely to occur in the latter half of December.

Average temperatures in Northern Vietnam and North Central Vietnam are approximately the same as the multi-year average, while other areas across the country are generally 0.5-1 degree Celsius higher.

This month, the central and southern parts of Central Vietnam will continue to experience widespread moderate to heavy rainfall. In addition, dangerous weather phenomena such as tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind may still occur nationwide.

Total rainfall in Northern Vietnam, North Central Vietnam, and the Central Highlands is 5-10mm lower than the multi-year average, with some areas in Northwest Vietnam possibly receiving even less. Quang Binh to Khanh Hoa and northern Ninh Thuan have total rainfall 50-100mm higher, while other areas generally receive 10-20mm more than the multi-year average for the same period.

Additionally, in December, the activity of typhoons and tropical depressions in the South China Sea region may be approximately the same as the multi-year average (1 storm in the South China Sea, 0.2 storms making landfall).
