Construction begins on expanding La Son-Hoa Lien highway to 4 lanes

Mr. Nguyen Vu Quy, Director of the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board, said that the contractor selection results have just been approved for the construction supervision consultancy package and the XL01 package for the construction of the La Son - Hoa Lien section, part of the North - South Expressway Eastern Expansion Project. These two packages include survey items, construction drawing design, equipment installation and construction.

Expanding the road surface from 2 lanes to 4 complete lanes

Specifically, the XL01 package was won by a consortium of 7 contractors with a value of more than VND2,700 billion. The consortium includes: Vietnam Construction and Import-Export Joint Stock Corporation, Bridge 75 Construction Joint Stock Company, Construction Construction Joint Stock Company 525, Bien Dong Consulting and Construction Joint Stock Company, Thanh An Corporation, Joint Stock Company 484 and Construction Transport Joint Stock Company No.1.

Bid implementation period is 240 days from the date of approval (May 23, 2025).

Accordingly, the project has a route length of about 65km; expanding the road surface from 2 lanes to 4 complete lanes, with a road surface width of 22m, design speed of 60-80km/h.

Package TV12 Construction supervision consultancy package XL1 (valued at over 15 billion VND) won by the consortium of contractors: Traffic Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company 2 - Traffic Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company 5.

Previously, the La Son - Hoa Lien section with a scale of two lanes was built, completed and put into operation from April 2022. The project has been effective, reducing the load on National Highway 1, increasing connectivity between Hue and Da Nang , the Central region. However, with a scale of two lanes, operating as a highway (no motorbikes, rudimentary vehicles...), this is still a bottleneck that localities have proposed to expand synchronously to 4 lanes in the past time.

When the La Son - Hoa Lien expressway expansion project is completed, it will contribute to gradually completing the planned traffic infrastructure, ensuring synchronization and modernity; improving exploitation capacity, reducing traffic accidents to promote the role of the Eastern North - South expressway in connecting localities, ensuring national defense and security in the region and the whole country.

At the same time, the project contributes to improving the exploitation capacity of the La Son - Hoa Lien expressway in particular, along with the Cam Lo - La Son and Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressways; improving the exploitation capacity of the North - South expressway in general.

The La Son - Hoa Lien expressway expansion project was approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 348/QD-TTg dated April 27, 2024, and the Ministry of Construction approved the investment in Decision No. 1492/QD-BGTVT dated December 6, 2024. The project starts at Km 0, connecting to the end point of the Cam Lo - La Son expressway, located in La Son town, Phu Loc district, Hue city; The end point (Hoa Lien) is at about Km 66, Hoa Lien intersection connecting to the starting point of the Hoa Lien - Tuy Loan route, located in Hoa Lien commune, Hoa Vang district, Da Nang city. The project has a total investment of 3,000 billion VND.
