The Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon Expressway component project is over 80 km long, connecting the two provinces of Quang Ngai and Gia Lai , of which the section passing through Quang Ngai province is over 60 km long. The project has a total investment of over VND 20,000 billion, including 3 packages XL1, XL2, XL3 invested by Project Management Board 2. The project started on January 1, 2023, is expected to open on September 30, 2025 and be completed and put into operation in December 2025.
According to the investor, to bring the project to the finish line on schedule, at the construction site, thousands of machines, workers, and engineers are working through the night, racing against time. Contractors are mobilizing 50 construction teams, more than 1,159 machines and equipment, and over 3,100 engineers, workers, and experts to participate. The progress of the project is quite high: 98% of the roadbed is complete; 90% of the production and assembly of traffic safety components are complete; 76/77 bridges have had their girders installed.
There are 3 tunnels on the route, so far, tunnel 1 and tunnel 2 have been basically completed, tunnel 3 has been dug and is in the process of pouring concrete for the tunnel lining, reaching more than half of the volume. Many sections on the route belonging to all 3 packages are being paved with asphalt and installed with safety barriers.

However, the project still faces some difficulties that need to be resolved, such as: Some locations where people obstruct construction related to complaints about construction causing cracks in houses; compensation work still has some problems, not yet agreed by the people. Some people request the local government to reclaim all remaining land area within the traffic safety corridor and organize resettlement for the people...
Recently, at the site inspection of the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway project, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Viet Hung requested the investor and contractor to closely coordinate with local authorities to quickly resolve problems, not allowing small problems to affect the overall progress of the entire route.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Viet Hung emphasized that the remaining time to complete the project is very short, while the workload is still large and the unpredictable weather, hot sun, and prolonged thunderstorms have affected the entire progress. If the problems are not promptly resolved, the construction is not accelerated, including overtime and night work, it will be difficult to ensure the target of opening the route on September 30, 2025.
The Deputy Minister of Construction also requested that local authorities actively support investors and contractors in disseminating and explaining compensation policies, and not allowing people to obstruct construction. At the same time, it is necessary to direct communes where construction works are affected to closely monitor the damage counting process and make proper and sufficient compensation payments according to regulations. In case of incomplete feedback, it is necessary to review and promptly supplement it, so that people do not suffer losses.
