Around noon and afternoon today, cold air will affect the Northeast, then affect the Northwest, North Central and some places in the Central Central.
From tomorrow night (December 12), cold air will continue to strengthen and affect the Central Central region and some places in the South Central region. The wind will change to the Northeast, strong level 3 inland, level 3-4 in coastal areas.

Previously, Mr. Nguyen Van Huong, Head of Weather Forecast Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, said that this afternoon, the North was affected by the Northeast monsoon, from December 12-14, cold air continuously increased, so the weather was very cold, with some mountainous areas experiencing severe cold.
"We estimate that around December 14-15, in the mountainous and midland areas of the North, there is a possibility of severe cold, with some places experiencing severe cold," Mr. Huong noted.
Also due to the influence of cold air combined with high-altitude easterly wind disturbances, from December 11 to about December 15, in the Central and South Central regions, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain; in the North Central region, there will be rain and showers. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.
The meteorological agency warned that heavy rains could cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods in small rivers and streams; and landslides on steep slopes. Strong winds and large waves at sea could affect the operation of ships and other activities.
Mr. Huong also noted that severe cold is when the average daily temperature drops below 15 degrees. With such a drop in temperature, in addition to affecting human health, it also affects crops and livestock. Therefore, people in the mountainous and midland areas of the North need to have plans to prevent, care for, and keep warm for livestock and poultry as well as protect crops.
