The Food Safety Department ( Ministry of Health ) has just issued a warning about the recent appearance on social networks of a number of clips with images of characters claiming to be medical staff at major hospitals, traditional medicine practitioners, medical consultants, advertising health protection foods as medicines to sell products.

The Food Safety Department stated that Clause 2, Article 27, Decree 15/2018/ND-CP detailing the implementation of a number of articles of the Food Safety Law stipulates: "Do not use images, equipment, costumes, names, correspondence of medical units, facilities, doctors, pharmacists, medical staff, thank-you letters from patients, articles of doctors, pharmacists, medical staff to advertise food". Thus, any doctor, physician, or medical staff participating in advertising health food products is violating the provisions of current law.

Impersonating a doctor to advertise functional products

Consumers need to be wary of clips that introduce themselves as doctors, traditional healers, disease consultants, or medical product consultants. Consumers also need to be wary of clips that introduce themselves as former patients, using functional foods or health protection foods that can cure diseases.

Believing in false advertising content causes patients to not go to medical facilities immediately for timely examination and treatment, which will miss the treatment stage, not only causing economic loss but also harming health.
