Accordingly, Khuat Van Khang will be the captain of U22 Vietnam at SEA Games 33 while there is only one vice-captain, Dinh Bac. Van Khang wearing the captain's armband at the upcoming SEA Games is very predictable as the Viettel midfielder is the most experienced player in the team, having been regularly called up to the Vietnam national team in the past 1-2 years.

Previously, Khuat Van Khang wore the captain's armband of Vietnam U22 in the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship. Then it was Van Truong's turn to receive the captain's armband in the 2026 Asian U23 qualifiers and the 2025 Panda Cup. Surprisingly, this time there was only 1 vice-captain instead of 2 vice-captains like in regular tournaments.

Dinh Bac is also an experienced player and is considered the most important striker of U22 Vietnam at present. The Korean coach also shared that reducing the list to 23 players was a very difficult challenge. “I lost sleep because of the choice. All the players are training and living professionally, but I have to make the best decision for the team,” he said. Coach Kim Sang Sik also thanked Coach Polking and the Hanoi Police Club for creating conditions for three players Dinh Bac, Minh Phuc and Ly Duc to join the training camp earlier than expected.
