On the morning of November 30, Coach Kim Sang-sik officially finalized the list of 23 players of the Vietnam U22 team participating in men's football at the 2025 Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 33).
Five players left the team, including defenders Le Van Ha and Dinh Quang Kiet, midfielders Tran Thanh Trung and Nguyen Duc Viet, and striker Bui Vi Hao.
The above decision was made by Coach Kim Sang-sik after a comprehensive assessment of the form, physical condition and tactical response level of each player through the training and concentration stages in 2025.
Before announcing the list of 23 players, Coach Kim Sang-sik also completed the list of the U22 Vietnam team's executive committee after the team meeting on the morning of November 29.
Midfielder Khuat Van Khang (The Cong Viettel ) was trusted to be the captain of U22 Vietnam. The midfielder born in 2003 is considered a player with a lot of international experience through major tournaments such as the 2023 Asian Cup finals, the 2024 U23 Asian Cup finals and the 2024 ASEAN Cup.
Previously, Van Khang also captained the Vietnam U23 team at the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship in July in Indonesia. He was also an important factor in helping Vietnam U23 win the tournament and qualify for the 2026 Asian U23 finals.
Meanwhile, striker Nguyen Dinh Bac is the team's only vice-captain instead of two vice-captains as before.

According to plan, the U22 Vietnam team members will move to Bangkok on the morning of December 1 to begin their journey to compete at the Southeast Asian Games.
With a carefully selected force, a young but experienced team, U22 Vietnam aims to compete with determination, gradually conquering the highest goal at SEA Games 33.
The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has also proactively developed a plan to ensure the best preparation for the Vietnam U22 team.
Specifically, the VFF's advance team will be in Bangkok from November 30 to check the conditions of the hotel, training ground, competition ground and related logistical requirements, thereby providing maximum support to Mr. Kim Sang Sik and his team during the competition at the 33rd SEA Games.
Match schedule of U22 Vietnam
At SEA Games 33, the Vietnam U22 team is in Group B of men's football with Laos U22 and Malaysia U22.
Group B matches were changed to Rajamangala Stadium (Bangkok) instead of Tinsulanon Stadium because Songkhla province was seriously affected by storms and floods.
According to the competition schedule, the "Golden Star Warriors" will begin their journey to conquer the 33rd SEA Games Gold medal with a match against U22 Laos at 4:00 p.m. on December 3.
This is also the opening match for men's football, along with Equestrian, the first competitions at SEA Games 33.
After the match with U22 Laos, Coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will have more than 7 days off to prepare for the important match with U22 Malaysia. This match will take place at 16 on December 11.
The remaining match of Group B between U22 Laos and U22 Malaysia will take place on December 6. This will be an opportunity for the Korean "captain" and his colleagues to watch their final opponent in the group stage.
"I will closely follow the match between Laos and Malaysia to perfect the plan for the final match," Coach Kim Sang Sik said during the afternoon practice session on November 28.

In addition to Group B, men's football has two other groups. Group A includes host Thailand, Timor Leste and Singapore, while Group C includes Indonesia, Myanmar and the Philippines.
Group A matches will also be held at Rajamangala Stadium, while Group C matches will be held at the 700th Anniversary Stadium (Chiangmai).
The three group winners and the best runners-up will advance. The semi-finals (December 15), bronze medal match and men's football final (December 18) will all be held at Rajamangala Stadium./.
