On September 5th, the Customs Department announced that the total value of Vietnam's import and export goods in the first eight months reached US$597.93 billion, an increase of 16.3% (equivalent to an increase of US$83.89 billion) compared to the same period in 2024, demonstrating the strong recovery and development of Vietnam's international trade.
Specifically, export turnover reached US$305.96 billion, an increase of 14.8% (US$39.53 billion) compared to the same period. In addition, import turnover reached US$291.97 billion, an increase of 17.9% (US$44.36 billion). As a result, Vietnam's trade balance in goods for the first eight months of 2025 continued to show a surplus of US$13.99 billion, although this was a decrease of 25.7% compared to the surplus of US$18.83 billion in the same period of 2024.
In August alone, the total value of goods exports and imports reached US$83.06 billion, an increase of 0.9% (US$769 million) compared to July. Of this, exports totaled US$43.39 billion, an increase of 2.6% (US$1.1 billion compared to the previous month), while imports reached US$39.67 billion, a decrease of 0.8% (US$329 million). The trade balance for goods in August maintained an impressive surplus of US$3.72 billion.
Regarding state budget revenue from import-export activities, total revenue in August reached VND 35,501 billion, a decrease of 10.2% (VND 4,040 billion) compared to July. However, cumulative state budget revenue for the first eight months reached VND 298,301 billion, equivalent to 72.6% of the annual forecast and an increase of 8.4% (VND 23,115 billion) compared to the same period in 2024.
