NDO - On May 19, the Nakhon Phanom provincial government coordinated with the Thai-Vietnamese Association of Nakhon Phanom province to organize a ceremony to celebrate the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh at the Thai-Vietnamese Friendship Village in Na Chok Village, Nong Yat Commune, Mueang Nakhon Phanom District, Nakhon Phanom province, nearly 800km northeast of Bangkok.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Vi, Chairman of Thai Viet Association of Nakhon Phanom province, spoke at the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Vi, Chairman of the Thai Viet Association of Nakhon Phanom province, emphasized that during his life of searching for a way to save the country, President Ho Chi Minh stopped to work in many places in Thailand such as Phichit, Udon Thani, Nong Khai, Sakon Nakhon and spent the most time in Nakhon Phanom. He was the one who laid the foundation for the friendship between the Thai and Vietnamese people.

Former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and late Prime Minister Phan Van Khai cut the ribbon to inaugurate the Thai-Vietnamese Friendship Village in Nakhon Phanom province on February 21, 2004, opening a new page in the history of friendship between the two peoples, an important milestone in the history of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Vietnam.

Every year on May 19, the Nakhon Phanom provincial government and the overseas Vietnamese community of Nakhon Phanom province come here to offer incense, flowers and attend the President Ho Chi Minh's Birthday Celebration with gratitude, respect and gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh, who sacrificed his whole life for the national movement and the unification of the country.

On behalf of the Governor of Nakhon Phanom Province, Mr. Ruayrung Kraibut, Deputy Governor of Nakhon Phanom Province, affirmed that the Thai-Vietnamese Friendship Village and the President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site in Nakhon Phanom Province are important historical relics and cultural sites, demonstrating the aspiration to foster friendly relations between Thailand and Vietnam. On the way to find a way to save the country, President Ho Chi Minh and like-minded people lived and worked in Nakhon Phanom Province to mobilize overseas Vietnamese to fight together for independence for the country.

Every year, on May 19, the two sides jointly celebrate President Ho Chi Minh's birthday and the Thailand-Vietnam friendship. This year, many meaningful activities were held, contributing to fostering the close friendship between Thailand and Vietnam.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Pham Viet Hung said that President Ho Chi Minh is the embodiment of patriotism, the spirit of tireless struggle for national independence and the happiness of the people.

He devoted his whole life to the revolutionary cause of the Vietnamese people and to peace and social progress in the world . He left us a precious legacy of ideology, morality and a simple but noble lifestyle, eternal values, not only for the Vietnamese people but also respected by international friends.

Ambassador Pham Viet Hung emphasized that Thailand holds a special place in President Ho Chi Minh's revolutionary journey. During the period of 1928-1929, he lived, worked and left a deep mark in many localities in Thailand, including Nakhon Phanom.

The Thai-Vietnamese Friendship Village and President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site are not only places to preserve precious historical memories, but also vivid evidence of the lasting bond between the Vietnamese and Thai peoples.

Ambassador Pham Viet Hung expressed his sincere thanks to the Nakhon Phanom provincial government and the Thai Government for always paying attention to and supporting the preservation and conservation of sites associated with the activities of President Ho Chi Minh, as well as supporting the Vietnamese community in Thailand in preserving the national cultural identity through traditional events and festivals such as the traditional New Year, Hung Kings' death anniversary... typically the annual solemn celebration of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday.

Ambassador Pham Viet Hung was pleased to announce that the two countries' relationship has been upgraded to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during the official visit to Vietnam from May 15 to 16 by Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra.

The visit is a historic milestone, demonstrating political trust, opening up opportunities for deeper cooperation in all areas from politics, economics, culture to people-to-people exchange. This achievement cannot be achieved without the silent but extremely important contribution of the Vietnamese community in Thailand.

Ambassador Pham Viet Hung hopes that in the coming time, especially towards the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2026, our people will continue to promote their role as a bridge, fostering good feelings between the Vietnamese and Thai people as well as contributing to promoting effective bilateral cooperation in all fields.

On this occasion, Vietnamese and Thai delegates awarded a number of scholarships to local children in difficult circumstances.

At the painting exhibition "The heart of painter Dao Trong Ly with Uncle Ho" organized by the Consulate General of Vietnam in Khon Kaen in coordination with the President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site in Nakhon Phanom province and the President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site in Udon Thani province on the morning of May 19 in the Thai-Vietnamese Friendship Village in Nakhon Phanom province, Consul General of Vietnam in Khon Kaen Dinh Hoang Linh emphasized that the exhibition is a meaningful activity in the program organized by the Consulate General of Vietnam in Khon Kaen to celebrate the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh, the national liberation hero, world cultural celebrity, the great leader who devoted his whole life to freedom, national independence and the happiness of the people.

Ms. Vo Thi Hong Van, the sister-in-law of the late painter Dao Trong Ly, was moved to share at the event that Mr. Dao Trong Ly was born in Thailand, in a family with great patriotism and love for his homeland. He and many overseas Vietnamese in Thailand participated in the revolution and contributed much to overseas Vietnamese activities. The paintings of President Ho Chi Minh all contain faith and respect for President Ho Chi Minh as well as love for his homeland.

The painting exhibition "Painter Dao Trong Ly's Heart for Uncle Ho" will be held until May 25 at the Thai-Vietnamese Friendship Village in Nakhon Phanom province.

Previously, delegates attended the incense and flower offering ceremony at the President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site in Nakhon Phanom province to commemorate, express respect and infinite gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh, the great leader of the Vietnamese people.
