At the meeting, delegates reviewed the historical milestones of the Cuban revolution, affirmed the strong solidarity between the two countries, and expressed their belief that Cuba, with its indomitable spirit and the support of international friends, will continue to overcome challenges and firmly step forward on the path of construction and development.
Speaking at the program, Mr. Le Quoc Minh said that 72 years have passed since the historic attack on Moncada fortress in the early morning of July 26, 1953, opening the Cuban revolution led by leader Fidel Castro. History has proven that this was an event that marked an important turning point in the history of the Caribbean island, creating great momentum for the Cuban revolution to victory. He quoted leader Fidel Castro: “Moncada is the small engine that started the big engine of the Cuban revolution. Without Moncada, there would be no Granma landing in 1956, no guerrilla warfare in Sierra Maestra and no victory of the Cuban revolution on January 1, 1959.”

Mr. Le Quoc Minh affirmed that the Moncada event was also a strong inspiration for the national liberation movement in Latin America, motivating peoples to stand up and fight for self-determination and choose a path of development. After the victory of the 1959 revolution, the Cuban people continued to firmly follow the revolutionary path, build a new society and received the support of peace- loving peoples in the world, including Vietnam.
He emphasized that over the past 65 years, since Vietnam and Cuba established diplomatic relations, Vietnam has always valued, preserved, consolidated and promoted the special friendship between the two countries; together with the international community, called for an end to the embargo against Cuba, and is ready to support and accompany the Cuban people in the development process. Press cooperation between the two countries has recorded many outstanding results, with Nhan Dan Newspaper and Granma Newspaper maintaining delegation exchanges, press operations and implementing joint cooperation projects, contributing to further deepening the bilateral friendship.

Cuba's struggle today, according to him, is a "creative resistance", both fighting steadfastly and promoting production, updating the socio-economic model and integrating internationally. He affirmed that Cuba is not alone; the world always stands with Cuba, including the Vietnamese people - those who have become brothers with Cuba right in the midst of the war of liberation, loyal and sharing spirit and material, holding hands tightly in the face of all storms of the times.

He emphasized that for the noble goal that President Ho Chi Minh once affirmed: "Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom", the Cuban people have fought tirelessly for more than seven decades, steadfastly following the revolutionary path. Looking back at the Moncada event from a current perspective, he compared it to a heroic symbol similar to the feat of the Vietnamese people when facing the strongest enemy, with absolute confidence in the final victory.

Mr. Joy Puentes Saldise also pointed out that Cuba is still facing an economic, trade and financial embargo imposed by the United States; recently, the embargo has continued to be tightened, seriously affecting the economy and people's lives. In that context, Vietnam's continuous support is invaluable. The relationship between Cuba and Vietnam, according to him, is a model of true solidarity and friendship, which needs to be preserved and expanded in today's world.
