Visitors to Cam Mountain hunt for clouds
On the afternoon of August 28, the People's Committee of Nui Cam Commune informed that Nui Cam is a famous spiritual tourist destination in An Giang and possesses streams, lakes and a unique mountain and forest ecosystem, with cool air all year round, so it attracts a large number of tourists, estimated at more than 43,000 visits/month.
"Forbidden Mountain is a tourist destination associated with spirituality, with a cool climate like in Da Lat and a cloud market, with delicious banh xeo served with wild vegetables. Regarding tourism products, there are lakes and streams, but I think they have not been exploited to their full potential," said Nguyen Van Tam, a tourist from Can Tho .
Mr. Pham Van Phuc - Secretary of the Party Committee of Nui Cam Commune - informed that Nui Cam (or Da Lat in the West) has many resources for tourism exploitation such as Thanh Long Lake, Thuy Liem Lake, Ta Lot Lake, Tien Stream, Otuksa Stream and natural mountains and forests, especially the Maitreya Buddha statue over 33m high on the mountain attracting pilgrims.
"Forbidden Mountain has not developed tourism to its full potential. We propose that the An Giang Department of Tourism advise the province on appropriate development orientation for tourism in Forbidden Mountain; upgrade and expand transport infrastructure.
The locality will continue to manage security and order and connect businesses and travel agencies to design tours to bring visitors," said Mr. Phuc.

How to wake up Cam Mountain tourism?
Mr. Mai Tuan Kiet - Vice President of An Giang Province Tourism Association - said that along with Chau Doc, Sam Mountain, Tri Ton, Cam Mountain has a lot of potential for tourism and is capable of creating many types of spiritual tourism products, resorts and exploring 40 unique caves in the mountain.
Currently, Cam Mountain has diverse food services, a convenient infrastructure and transportation system, but to attract tourists, much work still needs to be done.
"The locality needs to have a tourism plan for Cam Mountain and invite investors or businesses to invest in standard accommodation facilities, design short-term tourism products, have check-in points or outdoor activities for visitors to experience," said Mr. Kiet.

"To attract tourists, especially international tourists, I think the locality needs to develop standard homestays and build vegetable and flower farms for visitors to experience," said Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Tu - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aldentravel in An Giang.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Quoc - Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism of An Giang province - said that the department, together with businesses and travel agencies, recently conducted a field survey of tourism resources in Chau Doc ward, Chi Lang ward, O Lam commune and Nui Cam commune.
According to Mr. Quoc, through this survey, the unit will have a basis to re-evaluate tourism resources in An Giang, including Cam Mountain tourism.
"We will propose to the provincial leaders to have specific tourism development policies for each destination, maximizing strengths and encouraging businesses to create many unique and attractive tourism products to welcome visitors," Mr. Quoc emphasized.
