Lamine Yamal officially follows in Messi's footsteps

17-year-old player Lamine Yamal has been given the legendary number 10 shirt by Barca, which has been associated with many names of this team, including Lionel Messi.

According to Mundo Deportivo , young star Lamine Yamal will wear Barca's number 10 shirt from the 2025-2026 season. The number 10 shirt is a symbol at Nou Camp as most of the players who wear this number have become club legends.

Johan Cruyff, Luis Suarez (Spanish), Hristo Stoichkov, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho and Messi are classic number 10s at Barca.

After Messi left Barca, the number 10 shirt belonged to Ansu Fati. However, this player did not meet the expectations of development. Therefore, Fati was just pushed to Monaco on loan.

Lamine Yamal debuted for Barca with the number 41 shirt, in the 2022-2023 season. Yamal then wore the number 27 shirt and continued to change to the number 19 shirt this season.

In the season just ended, Yamal played extremely impressively, contributing greatly to helping Barca win the Spanish championship. In most matches, Yamal showed the appearance of the new Messi. Yamal wearing the number 10 shirt is expected to increase Barca's shirt sales.
