World Cup billiards schedule on July 2: Vietnam champion takes the field, promising drama

Today (July 2), 4 Vietnamese players will take to the field in the fourth qualifying round of the Porto 2025 Billiards World Cup, taking place in Portugal. In which, the reigning Vietnamese champion Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu will also take part.

Three Vietnamese players advanced to the fourth qualifying round as group winners.

In the third qualifying round of the Porto 2025 World Cup billiards tournament, held from the afternoon of July 1st to the early morning of July 2nd, three Vietnamese billiards players competed: Thón Viết Hoàng Minh, Nguyễn Chí Long, and Đào Văn Ly. All three Vietnamese players won their matches and advanced to the fourth qualifying round, finishing first in their respective groups. Meanwhile, Nguyễn Trần Thanh Tự received a wildcard entry into the fourth qualifying round.

Nguyen Chi Long is in Group D with Glenn Hofman (Netherlands) and Serdal Bas (Türkiye). In his opening match, Chi Long will face Serdal Bas at 4 PM (Vietnam time).

Thón Viết Hoàng Minh is in Group J with Jorrissen (Netherlands) and Roland Forthomme (Belgium). Đào Văn Ly is in Group K with Hwang Bong-joo (South Korea) and Gokhan Salman (Türkiye). Nguyễn Trần Thanh Tự is in Group L with Omer Karakurt (Türkiye) and Alexander Salazar (Colombia). Hoàng Minh, Văn Ly, and Thanh Tự will all compete at 5:30 PM.

Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu is the reigning Vietnamese champion in the 3-cushion carom billiards event.

The fourth qualifying round of the 2025 Porto World Cup billiards features 36 players, divided equally into 12 groups (3 players per group), competing in a single round-robin format to determine points and rankings, with simultaneous turns (draws are allowed). The top players in each group, along with the three best second-place players, will advance to the main tournament (32 players).
