Tornado causes damage in Yen Phong commune, Bac Ninh province

BAC NINH - Due to the influence of storm No. 5, on the afternoon of August 26, in Man Xa village, Yen Phong commune, a tornado occurred, causing damage to many properties and infrastructure works of the State and the People.

According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Minh, Chairman of Yen Phong Commune People's Committee, the thunderstorm occurred at 1:15 p.m. on August 26.

Immediately after the storm, the Ward's Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue directed and coordinated with functional forces to review and assess the extent of damage, and deploy measures to support people to overcome the damage. By 7 p.m. the same day, the local government had completed supporting people to clean up their roofs and awnings, and replant uprooted trees. The Yen Phong Regional Electricity Branch also basically fixed the problems and restored power to people.

The storm destroyed many households' corrugated iron roofs.

At the same time, a tornado also occurred in Yen Phong Industrial Park, tearing off the roof of an electronic components factory, breaking dozens of trees and overturning a truck. The tornado left many workers and passersby unable to move, forcing them to take shelter in safe areas. The Bac Ninh Provincial Industrial Park Management Board is actively coordinating with businesses to grasp the situation, have a direction to overcome the damage and ensure production.
