Malaysia will consider the views of its regional partners before deciding whether to participate in the Asia- Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in the US this November.

Speaking at a session of the Malaysian House of Representatives on the afternoon of October 2nd, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim emphasized that Kuala Lumpur had contacted and gathered the views of member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and China before making a decision.
APEC is a forum comprising 21 economies accounting for approximately 62% of the world's GDP, with the goal of promoting economic cooperation and free trade in the Asia- Pacific region.
Each year, countries take turns hosting the summit, ministerial meetings, and working group meetings. This year, the United States will host the 30th APEC Summit from November 15-17 in San Francisco.
According to plan, Chinese President Xi Jinping may attend the APEC Summit at the invitation of US President Joe Biden. Therefore, the White House is expected to hold talks with the Chinese leader on the sidelines of the Summit.
