Man United beat Chelsea in a match with 2 red cards

In the early morning of September 21, Man United defeated Chelsea 2-1 in a dramatic match in round 5 of the English Premier League.

In this match, Man United entered the match confidently and showed great determination when they raised their squad to pressure Chelsea right after the opening whistle. Too surprised by the opponent's approach, Chelsea was completely passive and fell into a defensive position.

Faced with Man United's "stormy" attacks, Chelsea exposed gaps and could not avoid mistakes.

In the 21st minute, coach Maresca continued to make another substitution. The Italian coach surprised everyone by taking star player Cole Palmer off the field to make way for Andrey Santos. This was a confusing substitution as Palmer is a great player, completely capable of turning the game around. However, the possibility of Palmer leaving the field due to a recurrence of injury cannot be ruled out.

Without Palmer, without Neto, without Estêvão, Chelsea were not strong enough to attack, and even moving forward was very difficult. Striker Joao Pedro was too isolated in the attack and could not make a difference when Harry Maguire was too closely marked.

Chelsea's troubles continued to mount in the 37th minute when they conceded a second goal from a close-range header from Casemiro. It all started with a cross from the right wing and Chelsea, with five defenders, were unable to clear the ball well before Casemiro scored.

But hope was suddenly rekindled for Chelsea in the 45+5 minute when Casemiro received a second yellow card and was sent off. In just over 10 minutes, the Brazilian midfielder went from one extreme to another of emotions. He was still happy to score but was surprised when he received a red card.

The numbers on the field were now equal but Chelsea were at a disadvantage in terms of score. The Blues were 2 goals behind and had taken off almost all of their best strikers.

At this point, it seems like coach Maresca is regretting his decision to make a substitution at the beginning of the match. Chelsea no longer has their best attacking players and they seem to lack innovation when the numbers are balanced again.

In the second half, Man United retreated to defend, waiting for a counter-attack to finish the match. Chelsea had 70% of the ball possession, but all they could muster was a goal from Trevoh Chalobah. This goal also exposed Man United's poor ability to counter high balls, which has been mentioned since the beginning of the season.

However, Chelsea is not the team that takes good advantage of set pieces to attack Man United's weaknesses.
