Bringing Quang Tri's aspirations to the Miss Vietnam 2024 contest

First held in 1988, since then, the Miss Vietnam contest has attracted the attention of many people, especially young girls with beauty, intelligence, talent... Everyone wants to touch the prestigious crown. As one of two representatives from Quang Tri to enter the final round of the Miss Vietnam 2024 contest, contestant VO THI THANH BINH left many impressions in the eyes of the judges. Quang Tri Newspaper reporter recently had a conversation with Thanh Binh to hear her share about her meaningful experiences at the contest.

- Congratulations Thanh Binh for entering the final round of the Miss Vietnam 2024 contest. Could you please share a little about yourself with the readers of Quang Tri Newspaper?

- Thank you Quang Tri Newspaper for giving me the opportunity to get closer to readers. My name is Vo Thi Thanh Binh, born in 2005 in Gio Linh town, Gio Linh district. Currently, I am a student at the University of Theater and Cinema, Ho Chi Minh City. As a young, energetic girl, I love dancing, participating in social activities and have a dream of becoming an actress. Participating in the Miss Vietnam 2024 contest, I have the registration number 119. I am very honored and happy to wear the sash named Quang Tri at the contest. I will try my best to be worthy of the sash named after the hometown where I was born and raised.

- What motivated you to enter the Miss Vietnam 2024 contest?

- For a long time, I have understood the meaning of beauty contests, especially Miss Vietnam. I believe that when I come to the contest, I will not only compete but also have the opportunity to improve and practice to shine more. That belief multiplied when I learned that, in addition to the criteria of beauty, this year's contest emphasizes cultural factors, intelligence and dedication. Another important motivation that urged me to come to the Miss Vietnam 2024 contest is my family. I am not lucky enough to have a good launching pad from my family like my friends. However, I received great love and support from my mother and brother. My mother and brother were the first people to encourage and cheer me on to come to this contest.

- When mentioning Thanh Binh, many people immediately think of a young, dynamic girl, especially one with many talents. How have you worked hard over the past time to leave such a beautiful impression?

- Since childhood, I have always tried to maintain my positive energy and desire to rise up. I have tried very hard in studying and training. I have received many certificates of merit thanks to my efforts in studying and working in the Youth Union and Youth Movement. In addition to knowledge, I focus on developing my talents. Since childhood, I have been passionate about dancing, dancing movements, acting... I also love participating in art programs. However, circumstances did not give me many opportunities to shine and develop myself. It was not until later, when I met a good sister, that I was able to truly live my passion and talent. She guided and showed me every little thing. Thanks to her, I can confidently bring the aspirations of a Quang Tri native to beauty contests.

- How has that luggage supported Thanh Binh in the process of conquering beauty contests, especially the Miss Vietnam 2024 contest?

- The talent that I have honed has helped me to be more confident in expressing myself. Thanks to that, in competitions, I have also easily "scored" with the judges and been recognized by other contestants. Previously, I was lucky to receive many titles and awards such as: Media Beauty at the Miss Vietnam Tourism Identity 2024 contest; Top 5 Miss Southern Student, Miss Vietnam Student 2023; won the title of Community-Friendly Tourism Ambassador at the Quang Tri Tourism Ambassador contest 2021; First prize in the photo contest "Beauty of Gio Linh High School Girls 2021"; First prize in the Youth Dance Contest in Ho Chi Minh City 2023... At the Miss Vietnam 2024 contest, I have the opportunity to show my talent. That is my happiness.

Homeland is nostalgia...

- As a Quang Tri native living far from home, what do you miss most about your birthplace?

- After finishing 11th grade, I asked my mother for permission to go to Ho Chi Minh City with the hope of having better opportunities and conditions to study acting and talent. At first, my mother was very worried and did not agree. However, sensing my great passion, she finally agreed. During my days in Ho Chi Minh City, I encountered many difficulties. Worries kept coming to me one after another. It was my passion and desire to improve that kept me here. Later, these two factors also brought me to Ho Chi Minh City University of Theatre and Cinema.

Living and studying far from my hometown, Quang Tri is always a memory for me. I miss my hometown with many traces of war, often facing natural disasters but very peaceful; I miss the meals my mother cooked; I miss the school and the faces of my dear friends... Every time I return to Quang Tri, I always try to go to many places, meet many people to satisfy my longing.

- When you returned to Quang Tri, along with other contestants, to participate in the 66th Tien Phong Newspaper National Marathon and Long Distance Championship in 2025, how did you feel?

- Of course, it was a feeling of overwhelming happiness. This was the first time I participated in such a big race. Moreover, the race was held right in my hometown. The night before the race, I kept tossing and turning, hoping for the morning to come quickly so I could immerse myself in the exciting rhythm of a big sports event.

- So this trip back must have left you with a lot of memories?

- When participating in the 66th Tien Phong Newspaper National Marathon and Long Distance Championship in 2025, I met many athletes from provinces and cities across the country. In addition to running, everyone came here because of their love for Quang Tri. Therefore, when they learned that I was one of two representatives from Quang Tri participating in the Miss Vietnam 2024 contest, everyone cheered and encouraged me a lot. For my part, I am also very happy to become a "friendly ambassador" introducing the land and people of Quang Tri to tourists from near and far, including the Miss Vietnam 2024 contestants. The joy multiplied when I heard my friends praise the hospitality and enthusiasm of the Quang Tri people. These will be beautiful footage in my youth film.

- For you, what does this return mean on your journey to conquer the Miss Vietnam 2024 contest?

- For me, this is a very meaningful gift that I accidentally received from the Miss Vietnam 2024 contest. This gift will definitely give me strength and great motivation to conquer the Miss Vietnam 2024 contest. I promise to try my best, perform as well as I can and always listen and learn on this journey. Hopefully I can achieve the best results and bring joy back to my hometown.
