Messi renews with Inter Miami, playing in MLS until age 41

Inter Miami presented the signing ceremony in a very formal manner. Messi sat at a table with contract documents in front of him, behind him was an image of the construction of the club’s new stadium, Miami Freedom Park. These two images showed the two most important “projects” in Miami’s future: Messi and the new stadium.

Messi's new contract is valid until the end of the 2028 MLS regular season, or to be exact, until December 2028. Thus, the 38-year-old superstar will play for another 3 years in the number 1 playground in the US. And when the time comes to end the contract with Miami, this player will turn 41 years old.

The Argentina national team captain said he was satisfied with the future project that Inter Miami is trying to develop, which was the driving force behind his decision to agree to a three-year contract extension.

Messi has scored 29 goals since the beginning of this season.

"I am very happy to be here and continue this work. Playing at Freedom Park in Miami has always been a dream. Since moving to Miami, I have been very happy, so I decided to stay at this club," Lionel Messi shared.

"Our vision was to bring the best players to Inter Miami and to this city. And we did that," said Inter Miami owner David Beckham. "Messi still has the same determination as when he first arrived. He still wants to win."

La Pulga officially wore the Inter Miami shirt from the 2023 season after being brought in from PSG. This player immediately left his mark. He continuously scored and assisted, helping the club win the Leagues Cup in 2023 and the MLS Supporters Shield in 2024.

All of which are the most in MLS 2025. He also won the most Man of the Match awards (5 times), created the most chances (32), took the most dribbles (91), and averaged the most shots (5.6 per game). All of these numbers show the absolute influence of Messi in Miami.
