According to the latest financial reports published, Rostower - the company that collects Messi's real estate assets has recorded a significant loss.
Spanish financial and economic website Cinco Dias stressed that this was not a direct cash loss from business operations. But it reflected a significant decline in the valuation of the company's assets.
Specifically, this loss of nearly 8.7 million USD mainly came from the company recording a 6.7 million USD decline in the valuation of real estate investments.
Despite the paper loss due to asset revaluation, Rostower’s leasing business still provides a steady income stream. The company still earned $8.2 million for Messi (who owns 100% of the company), mainly from rental income from urban real estate such as houses, hotels, shops and offices.
However, this income figure is still 3.9% lower than the previous year, showing that the real estate market is having certain fluctuations. Currently, Rostower is still valued at nearly 260 million USD.
At the end of 2024, Rostower converted to a listed real estate investment company model and started trading on the Spanish stock exchange Portfolio.
The Argentina captain's property portfolio spans across Europe, with luxury apartments in expensive areas such as the Sarria-Sant Gervasi district and the Castelldefels neighbourhood in Barcelona.
He also owns a 4,450 square foot penthouse in London, a 3,950 square foot apartment in central Paris and another property in Ibiza.
In the hotel sector, Rostower manages the MiM hotel chain through its subsidiary Explotaciones Rosotel, which contributed approximately $6.6 million in revenue to Rostower.
Recently, Messi has reached an agreement to transfer management rights of the MiM chain from Majestic Group to Melia Company (Mallorca) and these tourist facilities are now part of The Melia Collection.
The chain includes six hotel properties located in popular tourist destinations such as Sitges, Sotogrande, Mallorca, Ibiza, Baqueira Beret and Andorra, not to mention another standalone hotel in Valle de Aran, Catalonia.
In terms of corporate structure, Messi is the president of Rostower, while his wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, is the vice president. All of Messi's businesses are managed under the parent company Limecu Espana 2010, which Rostower and the image rights management company Leo Messi Management are part of.
