Miss International 2025: What's special about Miss Kieu Duy's national costume?

In the National Costume competition, Miss Kieu Duy performed in the national cultural costume “Cuu Long An Van,” inspired by the painting of the same name by artist Phan Van Tanh, created during the reign of King Khai Dinh.

The image of nine dragons appears vividly through many angles, sometimes majestic and frontal, sometimes soft and winding. “Nine Dragons Hidden in the Clouds” also contains profound traditional cultural values.

The dragon (a symbol of royalty, favorable weather and prosperity) hidden in the clouds has a noble and mysterious meaning, representing the aspiration to reach the sky, the spirit of harmony between humans, nature and the universe.

Before the competition, Miss Kieu Duy shared that although she had practiced and performed “Cuu Long An Van” many times, she still couldn’t help but feel nervous. While waiting for her turn to go on stage, Kieu Duy admitted that she was nervous and anxious, about to cry but tried to hold back.

“ I also felt a bit of pressure because I wanted to do well. There were times when I got emotional, my eyes even stung a little, but I quickly regained my composure, took a deep breath and stepped onto the stage with the lightest mindset , ” Kieu Duy expressed.

Notably, the outfit had an accident before the performance when the necklace broke during transportation, despite being carefully packaged and preserved. Therefore, Kieu Duy performed without wearing this accessory.

According to designer Nguyen Song Huy, the necklace plays a key role in the overall outfit, because it is the highlight that helps balance the composition, connecting the headpiece with the details on the body so that each movement of the wearer becomes harmonious, not disjointed. The necklace also helps to highlight the sharpness of the design when on stage, while attracting the eyes to the central area of the face. If there is a necklace, the cultural story of the outfit will be more complete.

Besides the competitions, Miss Kieu Duy and the contestants also participated in tours and experiences at many prominent locations in Japan, such as visiting Saruhashi Bridge, famous sake brewery, Mount Fuji, Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine.

Miss Kieu Duy also reunited with Miss Thanh Thuy. As the reigning Miss International, Thanh Thuy will accompany the contestants this season, supporting the organizing committee’s activities and preparing for the important “final walk” moment on stage at the final night.

Miss International 2025 takes place over 2 weeks, from November 12 to November 27. The final night of the contest takes place on November 27./.
