Water level at 10:00 a.m. on November 17 at hydrological stations: Huong River at Kim Long: 2.81m, above BĐ2: 0.81m; Bo River at Phu Oc: 4.89m, above BĐ3: 0.39m; O Lau River at Phong Binh: 2.47m.
The 9am news on November 17 of the Hue City Hydrometeorological Station said that in the next 24 hours: Floods on rivers will fluctuate at high levels, Bo River will fluctuate above BĐ3, about 0.3-0.5m lower than the recent historical flood peak, Huong River will rise and fluctuate at near BĐ3, about 1.7-2.0m lower than the recent major flood peak, Ta Trach River will fluctuate at BĐ1.
O Lau River at Phong Binh station rose and fluctuated at 2.8-3.0m, Truoi River at Truoi station fluctuated at 2.4-2.6m, about 2.0m lower than the recent flood peak.
Warning of the risk of deep, widespread flooding in low-lying areas in the following communes and wards of Hue City: An Cuu, Duong No, Hoa Chau, Huong An, Huong Thuy, Huong Tra, Kim Long, Kim Tra, My Thuong, Phong Dinh, Phong Phu, Phong Quang, Phong Thai, Phu Bai, Phu Xuan, Thanh Thuy, Thuan An, Thuan Hoa, Thuy Xuan, Vy Da, Chan May - Lang Co commune, Dan Dien commune, Hung Loc commune, Loc An commune, Phu Ho commune, Phu Loc commune, Phu Vang commune, Phu Vinh commune, Quang Dien commune, Vinh Loc commune.
There is a very high risk of flash floods on rivers and streams and landslides on steep slopes in Hue city. Flood risk warning level: Level 3.
"Currently, the rain in the upper reaches of the Huong River basin is showing a decreasing trend. However, according to the forecast of the Hue City Hydrometeorological Station, the rainfall will increase again this afternoon, evening and night (November 17), the water level of the Huong River will rise again, possibly approaching, above alert level 3 (alarm level 3 of the Huong River is 3.5m), the Hue City Civil Defense Command issued a notice on the morning of November 17, and requested agencies, organizations and people to move vehicles and cars to a safe place; proactively have plans to protect property and prevent floods".
Also this morning, due to rising flood waters in the rivers, to ensure the safety of students and teachers, the Department of Education and Training of Hue City announced that students in the city's schools will be off school today (Monday, November 17). For areas that are not affected or still ensure full safety conditions, schools will organize teaching and learning as usual.
The Department of Education and Training said that currently, some communes and wards have issued notices allowing students in the area to have a day off on November 17 and will continue to maintain it until further notice, depending on the actual flood situation.
Previously, to cope with the prolonged heavy rain, on the night of November 16, the Hue City Civil Defense Command ordered an increase in the operating flow of the Huong Dien Hydropower Reservoir through the spillway and turbine with a gradually increasing flow, avoiding sudden changes of about 1,600-2,500m³/s. Adjust operations depending on the actual flow situation to the reservoir.
Hue City Civil Defense Command requested Huong Dien Hydropower Joint Stock Company to implement this order upon receiving it, organize announcements, siren warnings and loudspeakers for the downstream area, and closely monitor the flow to the lake and water level on Bo River at Phu Oc station.
