(Chinhphu.vn) - On the morning of November 17, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security and the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee to organize a national scientific conference "Orientation for educational research and ensuring and protecting human rights in the new era of the nation".

The workshop was chaired by comrades: Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council; Tran Luu Quang, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Doan Minh Huan, Party Central Committee member, Permanent Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics; Senior Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung, Party Central Committee member, Deputy Minister of Public Security .

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics , said that the workshop taking place at this time has special significance: The entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army are actively contributing opinions to the draft documents to be submitted to the 14th National Congress of the Party, with enthusiasm and a high sense of responsibility.

In that flow, the issue of promoting the human factor, taking people as the center, respecting, ensuring and protecting human rights and civil rights continues to be affirmed with a core position, at the center of all national development strategies.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang suggested that delegates focus on discussing and clarifying issues related to human rights theory research. In the digital transformation era, research needs to have a long-term vision and be ahead of the trend.

Specifically, issues such as the right to protect personal data in cyberspace, the right to be protected from information manipulation, the right to create in the digital environment... These are not abstract legal concepts, but are challenges of profound legal, ethical and political nature.

According to comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang, ensuring, protecting and promoting human rights is a continuous task and noble mission of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Always focus on improving people's lives

Speaking at the workshop, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang affirmed that people are the center of development, ensuring human rights is always the consistent aspiration of humanity, directly linked to the cause of national liberation, class liberation, for peace , freedom and democracy.

Human rights are one of the core contents of Ho Chi Minh's thought, the consistent viewpoint of all Party guidelines and policies and State policies and laws.

The Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress affirmed that the people are the center and subject of the cause of innovation, construction and protection of the Fatherland; all guidelines and policies must originate from the lives, aspirations and legitimate interests of the people, taking the happiness and prosperity of the people as the goal to strive for.

According to comrade Tran Luu Quang, with the role of economic locomotive of the whole country, in recent years, Ho Chi Minh City has achieved many achievements in all aspects, becoming a civilized, modern and humane city. The Party Committee and the City Government always pay attention and focus on improving the quality of life of the people, ensuring social security and promoting democracy among the people.

In the 2021-2025 period, the City focuses on investing in developing the education system in terms of scale and quality, with 435 projects and 2,823 new classrooms put into use. People's health care is implemented synchronously, the health sector and health insurance are socialized; strong investment is made in developing facilities, equipment, and human resources to meet the people's needs for medical examination and treatment.

Accordingly, 100% of poor and near-poor households have access to basic social services; 100% of meritorious people and their families receive comprehensive care, with an average standard of living or higher than that of the residential community.

Comrade Tran Luu Quang said that entering the new era, Ho Chi Minh City and the whole country are facing great opportunities as well as significant challenges. The 4th industrial revolution is creating many profound changes in all fields; the process of deep international integration requires the Party and State to constantly improve the legal system and policies to be compatible and meet international standards on human rights.

The Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee affirmed that from this workshop, Ho Chi Minh City will absorb many profound contents on human rights and solutions on human rights education to build the city into a livable place, where every citizen is guaranteed development opportunities, fully cared for in health, education, living environment, and no one is left behind in the development process of the country and the city.
