Mong Cai: Effectiveness of the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life"

The movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" in recent times has become a great spiritual driving force, contributing significantly to promoting socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security and building a united, civilized and affectionate community in Mong Cai city.

Based on the viewpoint of "taking people as the center", Mong Cai City has concretized the goals and contents of the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" flexibly, close to the reality of each locality and residential area. The city government closely follows the direction of the Central and the province to synchronously deploy 2 goals, 5 key contents and 7 emulation movements associated with each subject, such as cadres, party members, association members, union members and people.

The movement does not stop at advocacy and propaganda, but focuses on organizing implementation, checking, evaluating and promptly praising advanced models. Thanks to that, people's sense of responsibility in building a cultural community has been significantly raised, creating positive changes in all aspects of social life.

Currently, the whole city has more than 22,600 households achieving the title of "Cultural Family", 95 villages and neighborhoods achieving the title of "Cultural Residential Area". This is the result of the efforts and consensus between the government and the people in building a healthy cultural lifestyle, maintaining order, environmental sanitation and promoting good traditional values.

One of the highlights of the movement is the effective connection with economic , cultural, social development programs and border security protection. A typical example is the 2025 Border Sim Flower Festival in Hai Son commune with the theme "Purple Border - Connecting Heritage", held for 2 days, May 17-18. This is an annual festival and the 4th year the city has organized this festival.

This year's festival attracted thousands of locals and tourists to participate, with a series of rich activities: Marathon, rice cake pounding competition, ethnic costume performance, folk games, art and culinary exchanges... Not only is it a cultural festival, it is also an opportunity to promote tourism potential, preserve traditional values, and at the same time arouse the spirit of solidarity and national pride in the ethnic minority communities in the border highlands.

In addition, the movement also strongly promotes socialization. In 2024, from the "For the Poor" Fund and other socialized sources, the city supported the construction and repair of houses, and production development for 57 near-poor households with a total cost of more than 2.25 billion VND. This is not only material support, but also clearly demonstrates the spirit of humanity, mutual love, and improving the quality of residents in building cultural life.

To make the movement truly go into depth, Mong Cai pays special attention to developing a synchronous system of cultural and sports institutions from the city to the grassroots, improving the quality of service to the people. Up to now, the whole city has 12 sports training and competition houses, 150 badminton courts, 110 volleyball courts, 52 football fields, 45 table tennis tables; 100% of cultural houses in villages and neighborhoods have been reviewed and evaluated for operational efficiency with a modern grassroots broadcasting system.

The construction and implementation of village covenants and conventions in 100% of villages and neighborhoods have also been seriously implemented. The content of village covenants and conventions closely follows ethical and cultural standards, ensuring continuity and suitability to actual conditions. Thanks to that, many backward customs have been gradually eliminated; a civilized and modern lifestyle has gradually taken shape and spread.

In addition, patriotic emulation movements associated with building cultural life such as "Good people, good deeds", "All people exercise following Uncle Ho's example", "Good farmers and businessmen", "Building friendly schools, active students"... continue to be promoted, attracting a large number of cadres and people to participate. Many creative models and effective methods have been discovered, replicated and become spiritual supports in residential areas.

Since the beginning of the year, Mong Cai City has continued to promote the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" associated with the goal of building a civilized and modern urban area. Localities across the city have actively registered for cultural titles; grassroots cultural and sports activities have been maintained regularly, and the mass art movement has developed vigorously.
