Director of Hue Electricity Company Nguyen Dai Phuc said that as of the morning of November 4, there were still 86,000 customers without electricity, accounting for 25% of the total number of customers whose electricity supply was cut off due to flooding to ensure safety. The company is mobilizing forces and means to urgently check and monitor water levels to turn on and supply electricity to customers to ensure safety. Previously, on November 3, due to heavy rain and floods, Hue Electricity Company cut off electricity to 164,800 customers, accounting for 48% of the total number of customers in Hue city.
Prolonged rain and floods, especially in mountainous communes: Nam Dong, Khe Tre and Long Quang, caused landslides, severely damaging traffic works and infrastructure. Thuong Long Water Treatment Plant, Hue Water Supply Joint Stock Company (HueWACO), with a capacity of 2,000 m3/day and night, located in Ka Dong village, Long Quang commune, was also affected.
From October 28 to 31, heavy rains and floods in the upstream caused particularly high turbidity in the water source. In addition, the upstream of A Ky stream suffered serious landslides, damaging the dam and raw water line. Since November 1, HueWACO has mobilized forces to approach, fix the problem, dredge and clear the dam, restore the raw water line and operate the treatment, and supply water again in the afternoon of the same day.
However, the heavy rains and floods caused serious landslide warnings, so on November 2, the factory's operators and 5 surrounding households promptly evacuated the area to ensure safety. Therefore, the factory temporarily stopped operating from 2 p.m. on the same day. On the morning of November 4, HueWACO leaders said that the company had urgently restored and put the factory back into operation to supply water to the people.
Currently, the water level of the Huong River at Kim Long is 0.57m below alert level 3; the Bo River at Phu Oc is 0.58m below alert level 3. The water level of the rivers has decreased, so the water on many roads and residential areas has receded, creating favorable conditions for environmental protection; especially the collection of garbage and mud overflowing on the road surface, which has not been able to be collected completely in the past few days due to consecutive large floods.
