On the evening of March 26, while having dinner with his family, Hung discovered that there was a large amount of money in his account, so he was very confused, "both scared and trembling".
" Because the account number is linked to my mother's phone number, when I informed my family, my mother received a call from someone claiming to be the account owner asking to transfer the money back," Nguyen Gia Hung said.
After calling to verify the information about the name and account number, seeing that everything matched completely, and realizing that this was indeed the person who transferred the money by mistake, Hung's father encouraged that person to stop worrying, promising to go to the bank the next morning to verify and return the money.
On the morning of March 27, Nguyen Gia Hung took a day off from school to go with his father to the bank in Cam Ranh City. After the staff verified who had sent the money by mistake, the whole family was relieved to return it.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phong, Hung's father, said his family raises shrimp. He and his wife have two children, Hung is the eldest.
" When we heard Hung explain that he received a large amount of money and wanted to return it to the person who transferred it by mistake, we were very proud because our son has good qualities," said Mr. Phong.
Ms. Pham Thi Huong, the person who transferred the money by mistake, said that on March 25, she transferred money for business. The next day, the partner reported that they had not received the money, so her family panicked and checked and found out that they had transferred the wrong account number. After consulting with the bank, they contacted Hung's family.
At first, Mrs. Huong was worried that Hung was young and might become greedy after receiving a large amount of money. However, after a phone call with the boy's family, she felt relieved and reassured. Hung's family wanted to return the money that night, but the boy's account had a limit on the amount of money that could be transferred.
“ This morning, when I received the money, I was very moved. We would like to thank Hung's family for this gesture, ” said Ms. Huong.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen, Principal of Ngo Gia High School, said that Hung is a student who gets along well with his friends, is polite to his teachers, and has a spirit of striving in his studies. In the near future, the school will award him a certificate of merit and commend him to spread this good deed.
