(Baothanhhoa.vn) - In recent times, many activities to protect and develop intellectual property have been actively implemented by departments, branches and localities in the province. Many key local agricultural products after being protected by intellectual property have become widely known to consumers, their reputation has been enhanced, and their value has significantly increased in the domestic and international markets.

Khuc Phu fish sauce products of Le Gia Food and Trade Service Company Limited, Hoang Thanh commune are produced according to standards, ensuring food hygiene and safety.

Binh Son green tea bags and Binh Son Solanum procumbens tea bags of Binh Son Agricultural and Forestry Service Cooperative, Tho Binh Commune have been granted a certificate of trademark protection and selected by the Provincial People's Committee as one of the 10 rural industrial products of the province. Currently, the commune's tea production area has 350 hectares, of which more than 250 hectares are being harvested, contributing to creating jobs and stable income for more than 100 workers. Since Binh Son Agricultural and Forestry Cooperative participated in the production process and successfully built OCOP products, Binh Son tea has products such as tea buds, green tea bags, wild Solanum procumbens tea and honey that have been recognized as meeting 3-star OCOP standards. Currently, the Cooperative's consumption output reaches 45 tons of dry tea/year along with many other products, with a profit of more than 100 million VND/ha/year, helping many households improve their lives and increase their income thanks to tea trees.

The products of Binh Son Agricultural and Forestry Service Cooperative are focused on beautiful design and diverse models; honey products are not only available in one type of bottle as before but are packaged in many types of models, bottle specifications with different capacities to suit the needs of use from buying as gifts, buying for use... convenient for customers, so consumption is also easier. Thereby helping to increase product value, expand product market.

According to statistics from the Department of Science and Technology, as of August 2025, the whole province has nearly 70 agricultural products and craft villages that have been granted trademark protection certificates. Of which, geographical indication protection certificates associated with local place names have been granted to 5 products, including: Hau Loc shrimp paste, Nga Son sedge, Luan Van grapefruit, Thuong Xuan cinnamon, Co Lung Ba Thuoc duck; 15 local products have been granted protection certificates for collective trademarks and certification trademarks, including: Do Xuyen - Ba Lang fish sauce, Phu Quang lam tea, Ha Yen shrimp paste, Ai village soy sauce, Quang Xa wine, Tu Tru gai cake, Truong Giang conical hat, Hong Do silk, Khuc Phu fish sauce, Thang Long rice vermicelli, Lang Chanh longan candy, Sam Son dried squid, Sam Son fish sauce, Xuan Thanh oranges, Xuan Lap leaf-shaped cake...

In addition, the whole province also has more than 200 products of agricultural, forestry and fishery production and processing enterprises certified with trademarks. Through supporting the protection and development of intellectual property for local key products in particular and intellectual property activities in general, it has contributed to increasing product value, increasing competitive advantages in the market, shifting from single production model to concentrated production; from production and development of free products to production and trading of products with intellectual property protection controlled in terms of origin and quality. Along with that, the protection of intellectual property for local specific products also contributes to preserving national cultural values, traditional knowledge, promoting and honoring the value of products produced according to indigenous processes. Many products after being protected by intellectual property have been widely known by consumers, product reputation has been enhanced, and product value has increased significantly.

In addition to the achieved results, the implementation of the intellectual property program also encountered some shortcomings and obstacles. In particular, the construction of certification marks, collective marks, and geographical indications encountered many difficulties due to the limited linkages and cooperation in production development and brand building of enterprises. Many local specialty products have not yet built their brands due to objective reasons such as complicated support work; production and product consumption activities of each facility are still small and fragmented, lacking connections; enterprises are slow to innovate technological processes in production and business, and are not really interested and enthusiastic about exploiting and applying inventions in production...

To support enterprises, cooperatives, and production households in building brands for their products, the Department of Science and Technology continues to coordinate with sectors and localities to continue building and developing brands for key local products and industries, especially agricultural products associated with tourism in the province. Exploiting and developing geographical indications, certification marks, collective marks and products associated with the OCOP Program in the direction of cooperation and production linkage associated with the consumption of protected products according to the value chain. Promoting and promoting trade for key products and traditional products of the locality.
