The activities of literary and artistic criticism aim to contribute to discovering and introducing to the public more talented authors and good literary and artistic works; guiding the public to enjoy art, creating a bridge between artists and the public... According to information from the Provincial Literature and Arts Association, currently the team of theoretical and critical members has 15 members. In the past time, the authors have also tried to have works of literary and artistic theory and criticism, through which the public can see new aspects of a work, author, or literary character.

However, frankly speaking, the province's literary and artistic theory and criticism activities have not yet achieved the expected results. Part of the reason is that the number of people participating in literary and artistic theory and criticism activities is still small. On the other hand, the quality of articles and works on literary and artistic theory and criticism is not deep, not going into the function of assessing and evaluating works and authors, discovering new things... It is difficult to name the literary and artistic theory and criticism works that have made an impression on the public. Most of them only stop at single articles with personal feelings about each author and work, lacking in detailed analysis and explanation of the style, trends, and uniqueness of a certain author or work. The publication of literary and artistic theory and criticism articles is also mainly in Nha Trang Magazine with a quantity of more than 70 articles/year.

Painter Tran Ha - Chairman of the Provincial Literature and Arts Association acknowledged: “The field of literature and arts theory and criticism has not had many breakthrough works. The team working on literature and arts theory and criticism is currently small. In recent years, there have been a number of writers writing literature and arts theory and criticism that have attracted the attention of artists and the public, but mainly in the field of literature, while other artistic fields such as: Fine arts, photography, music , theater, dance, etc. have not yet reached out”.

Strengthen theoretical and critical activities

In the report summarizing 50 years of Vietnamese literature and arts after the country's reunification, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee stated: "The field of criticism and theory is still limited, not meeting the requirements of practical creation and reception of literature and arts". The Provincial Party Committee's leaders also raised the tasks and solutions to overcome this situation in the coming time, which is to focus on building and developing a team of artists to have excellent, outstanding works that resonate with the public. Along with that, it is necessary to strengthen the training and fostering of artists working in literary and artistic criticism in the province; amend and supplement the regimes and policies for artists in accordance with the actual situation; have breakthrough mechanisms to develop literary and artistic activities.

It can be seen that the theory and criticism of literature and art is to help the public approach literature and art works in a more multi-dimensional and diverse way, to see the beauty of the work. In the trend of reviving and developing literature and art in the country, Khanh Hoa province also needs to continue to build the theory and criticism of literature and art into an important part of the life of literature and art, and at the same time, it is also a part of the political theory work of the Party. The theory and criticism of literature and art must express its important voice to raise awareness of the role of literature and art in the common development; provide scientific arguments for literature and art activities. In the context of increasingly deep integration into the world in all aspects, literature and art activities are also strongly influenced by creative trends and trends. Therefore, doing a good job of theoretical and critical work on literature and art is also a way for us to know how to perceive, skillfully apply, and select trends and tendencies that are suitable to the identity and characteristics of literature and art in the country and locality.
