Elevate delicious cakes from rice and sticky rice

Nearly 2 hours of effort with all the meticulousness and skill to complete 200 cakes from rice and sticky rice in the most perfect way, the artisans contributed to setting the Vietnamese Record "The event of processing and performing the most cakes made from rice and sticky rice in Vietnam" in Hau Giang .

40 artists contribute

The artisans are mostly young, coming from many provinces and cities, contributing to creating delicious cakes made from rice and sticky rice. Artisan Kim Thi Thanh Mai, from Soc Trang, is excited about her pumpkin cake: “Vietnamese cuisine is diverse and especially the cakes made from rice and sticky rice are simple but very delicious. I always strive to learn to improve my skills, make delicious dishes, and contribute to raising the level of Vietnamese cuisine .”

Each artisan involved in the preparation and performance has different emotions, but they have one thing in common: they are proud of their hometown's products and want to contribute to introducing, promoting, and elevating the culinary scene in general, and cakes made from rice and sticky rice in particular.

From the ingenuity and creativity of the artisans, 200 cakes made from rice and sticky rice are completed, not only delicious but also beautifully decorated. The cakes are very familiar to the people of the West, such as Banh Cong, Banh Cam, Banh Duc, Banh Tam, Banh Beo, Banh Chuoi, Banh It Tran, Banh Khot, Banh Xeo Cu Hu Khom...

There are less common types of cakes, such as Ba Trang cake, Mugwort cake, and Humpback Chung cake. There are types of cakes that are typical of a region, such as Vung Tau banh khot, Bac Lieu banh xeo, Hue banh nam, Quang banh beo, Phan Rang banh can, Tay Son rice rolls, Tra Cuon banh tet...

Each type of cake has its own unique flavor, combined with flour, spices, sauces, and dipping sauces to create unique flavors.

Bringing hometown products to the world

Thus, Hau Giang has 3 dishes that have been recognized as Vietnamese records. Previously, 100 dishes made from snakehead fish and 100 dishes made from pineapple were recognized by the Vietnam Record Organization, and these two products were also honored as Asian records.

In recent years, Hau Giang's tourism sector has been gradually invested and exploited, in which cuisine is one of the first targets to create a unique impression for tourists due to the diversity of local products.

In addition to the two specialties of Cau Duc pineapple and snakehead fish, Hau Giang also has many other products that are gradually being upgraded. Major activities of the province always have food stalls, serving Hau Giang's typical dishes and drinks to serve tourists. Artisans also research and cooperate with localities to build brands for their dishes, in order to develop products in the best way. Since then, many dishes have been recognized as products that meet provincial OCOP standards...

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ly, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that this is a useful playground for artisans to demonstrate their skills, update their knowledge and improve their professional skills. “We believe that this event will have a wide spread domestically and internationally, so that people will not only know about Vietnam's delicious rice but also hundreds of delicious cakes made from rice and sticky rice. Hau Giang will continue to promote these special cakes in the near future, in many forms, to support their spread and reach,” Ms. Ly shared.

This is a long story and Hau Giang is gradually exploiting the strength of cuisine to develop tourism. The events that Hau Giang has organized, attracting the attention of domestic and international visitors in recent times, the cuisine is also introduced systematically, creating a unique feature, making visitors from near and far linger.

6 Vietnamese records were established and announced in Hau Giang

“The event of processing and performing the most rice and sticky rice cakes in Vietnam” is the third Vietnamese record set within the framework of the Vietnam - Hau Giang International Rice Festival 2023. Previously, the Vietnam Record Organization set a record for the longest exhibition space and installation of the Vietnam Rice Road, with the theme “The Thousand-Year Journey of Vietnamese Rice” - breaking the record. The record of the Vietnam Rice Map is composed of the most specialty rice varieties of provinces and cities.

In addition, Loc Troi Group has coordinated to announce 3 Vietnamese records: "Enterprise with the largest rice production linkage area in 2024 in Vietnam with 256,000 hectares"; "First enterprise in Vietnam to achieve SRP100 certification for 4 consecutive years from 2020-2023 on applying SRP sustainable rice cultivation standards"; "Enterprise with the largest team of SRP international trainers in Vietnam (125 people)" on December 13.
