According to NATO's announcement, the "Resolute Guardian 2024" exercise will take place according to a scenario of how the US military would respond, moving across the Atlantic to reinforce European allies that share a border with Russia or support the Eastern flank of Europe in the event of a conflict with an opponent of comparable military strength.

The “Resolute Guardian 2024” exercise, which will involve about 90,000 troops from 31 NATO member states and the candidate country Sweden, will start next week and run until the end of May 2024.

Supreme Allied Commander of NATO in Europe, General Christopher Cavoli, said the “Resolute Defender 2024” exercise is part of the Euro-Atlantic deterrence and defense strategy, in line with NATO's collective defense goals.

“Exercise Steadfast Defender 2024 will be NATO's largest exercise in decades and will be a clear demonstration of NATO's unity, strength and determination to defend its members, defend NATO values and ensure the rules-based international order,” said Mr. Cavoli.

On January 17 and 18, a conference of NATO defense ministers took place in Brussels (Belgium) with the participation of two partners, Sweden and Ukraine.

The conference focused on the implementation of NATO's new defense plan, NATO's transformation in warfare, NATO's continued support for Ukraine and military cooperation with partners Austria, Switzerland, the Republic of Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea.
