On the afternoon of September 15, the National Cyber Security Association (NCA) and the Ministry of Public Security issued a warning about fake information related to the data leak at CIC.
According to NCA, in recent days, taking advantage of the online community's special attention to the incident at the CIC Center, many people have released a series of fake information about "data leaks" at other agencies and organizations.
This information quickly spread on social networks, forums and online discussion groups, targeting many important fields such as energy, banking, transportation, delivery, etc.
After conducting a quick check and verification with relevant parties, especially checking the information field structure and sample data, NCA found that these were fake news, with no factual basis. However, some unwary users continued to share and comment on these contents, increasing the information noise, making it difficult to verify and handle.
Ministry of Public Security denies fake news related to data leak at CIC
Mr. Vu Ngoc Son, Head of Technology Department of NCA, said that fake news about data leaks at this time is causing relevant agencies and organizations to spend a lot of effort to check and verify, wasting resources and time.
Experts say fake news on cyberspace not only causes public confusion but also poses the risk of online fraud and destabilizes the business and social environment.
NCA recommends that internet users do not share or spread unverified information from official sources and need to check information through official media channels before sharing.
Previously, on September 11, the Vietnam Cyber Emergency Response Center (VNCERT) said it had recorded a cyber security incident occurring at the CIC Center.
Initial results determined that there were signs of cybercrime attacks aimed at stealing personal data. The amount of data stolen is being counted and clarified.
