Vietnamese team wins 2025 Cyber ​​Security Student Competition

During 88 consecutive matches lasting 8 hours of the final round of the 2025 Cyber ​​Security Student Competition, Vietnamese teams surpassed opponents from ASEAN countries and Japan to achieve high rankings.

After more than two months of launching and exciting competition, under the chairmanship of the National Cyber ​​Security Association, sponsored by the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Education and Training, the 2025 Cyber ​​Security Student Competition has entered the final round with the theme "Data security and personal data protection" attracting 76 teams from 8 ASEAN countries and Japan.

On the evening of November 15, the organizing committee of the 2025 Cyber ​​Security Student Competition announced the results.

With Group A (Attack - Defense) consisting of 20 teams, 17 of which compete directly at the Arena of the Department of Cyber ​​Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention, Ministry of Public Security, 3 teams compete online. The teams both protect their systems and find ways to exploit vulnerabilities in their opponents' systems in a simulated data center environment.

With a total score of 6,700 points, team PTIT.CBS from the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology won first place in group A. It excelled over its opponent TPCI from Tsukuba University (Japan) - who came in second with a score of 6,100 points.

In Group B (Advanced Jeopardy CTF), 56 online teams faced in-depth challenges in Web Security, Reverse Engineering, Pwnable, Cryptography, and Forensics.

These positions require strategic thinking, teamwork, and comprehensive technical skills.

The UIT- Reze team from the University of Information Technology - Ho Chi Minh City National University won first prize; the second prize went to the teams from the Academy of Cryptography and the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology.

Speaking at the award ceremony of the 2025 Cyber ​​Security Student Competition, Major General Le Xuan Minh, Director of the Department of Cyber ​​Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention (A05), Vice President of the National Cyber ​​Security Association, assessed that the 2025 Cyber ​​Security Student Competition had concluded after a day of intense, fierce, but also extremely exciting and intellectual competition.

As soon as the competition's technical infrastructure gate was opened, the teams immediately started competing with a proactive, decisive and disciplined spirit.

After only 15 minutes, the first challenge was conquered - a clear demonstration of the speed, sensitivity and quick adaptability of the students in a high-intensity cyber combat environment. The attack-defense competition format really ignited a competitive atmosphere, continuously dramatic from start to finish.

A05 Department representative added that during the 88 consecutive matches lasting 8 hours, the rankings continuously changed, with teams competing closely for every point.

The lead was only temporary, and the fierce pursuit of the teams turned the competition into a true technological “battle” that demonstrated bravery, analytical skills, teamwork ability and high pressure tolerance.

The competition showed that the skill level among the teams was very even. More importantly, it reflected the great potential of Vietnamese students in the field of cyber security, a key field of strategic significance to the task of protecting the Fatherland in the digital age.

Each student participating today, regardless of their rank, has contributed to affirming the intellectual capacity and progressive spirit of the young generation of Vietnam on the regional and world cybersecurity map.
