Should I save online or at the counter?

Online savings have higher interest rates than at the counter because this form helps banks reduce many operating costs, increase competitiveness, and attract customers to use cashless transactions.

This is also a general trend that is always encouraged by the State.

Online savings bring attractive profits to depositors compared to traditional savings. Because high interest rates mean that depositors will have high interest and optimize the ability to make profits on idle capital.

According to VietNamNet statistics,SHB 's interest rates have the biggest difference between savings at the counter and online savings.

As of August 21, the difference in 6-month interest rates between these two deposit types was up to 2.1%, while the difference in 12-month terms was also up to 1.2%/year.

For the 12-month term, ABBank and LPBank also have a large difference in interest rates between the two forms of deposits. The difference for the 6-month term is 0.9%/year.

Also with a 6-month deposit term, the difference in deposit interest rates at MSB, PVCombank, SCB is from 0.5-0.55%; at TPBank,ACB and Techcombank is 0.4%; and at KLB, VietA Bank, NamA Bank, BIDV is 0.3%.

Some banks do not have a difference between the two forms of deposit, which are VietinBank and Saigonbank.

Meanwhile, some banks have interest rate differences for short terms, while for terms of 12 months or more, there is no difference between the two deposit methods such as Agribank, Vietcombank, BIDV, VIB, OCB.
