Russia speaks out about President Zelensky's visit to the US, affirming that Moscow is persistent in its goal of 'demilitarizing and defascizing' Ukraine

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on March 1 assessed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to Washington as a complete failure for Kiev in both politics and diplomacy.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Russia has repeatedly warned about President Zelensky's negotiating ability.

Ms. Zakharova stressed that in the current political conditions, when the situation is getting worse for the Kiev authorities, Mr. Zelensky "cannot act responsibly and is therefore obsessed with continuing this conflict, as well as rejecting peace."

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Moscow will continue to persistently pursue the goal of "demilitarization and defascization of Ukraine, as well as recognition of the current reality on the ground."

In addition, the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Kirill Dmitriev also called the fierce confrontation between the two US and Ukrainian leaders a "historic" event.

Kirill Dmitriev was one of Moscow’s negotiators at the Russia-US talks in Saudi Arabia on February 18. This was the first round of talks between the two countries since Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine in 2022.
