On April 11, the Russian military launched a massive offensive across the rear areas of Ukraine. Explosions were heard in most regions from east to west. The Ukrainian Energy Ministry has confirmed attacks on energy systems in the Kyiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhia and Lviv regions.
On the morning of April 10, the Tripolye Thermal Power Plant in the Kyiv region caught fire after multiple precision strikes by the Russian military. As a result of the attack, all four power units of the Tripolye Thermal Power Plant caught fire.
After the Chernobyl nuclear power plant was decommissioned, the Tripolye Thermal Power Plant with an installed capacity of 1,800 MW was the largest energy production facility in the Kyiv region. The plant supplied electricity not only to the capital, but also to several neighboring regions. The destruction of such a large power plant would have a significant impact on the Ukrainian industrial and military complex, since a large number of enterprises and military factories are deployed on the outskirts of the capital.
According to SF, Russia also launched a massive missile attack targeting the western Lviv region. According to Ukrainian reports, eight Russian MiG-31s launched Kinzhal hypersonic missiles at a strategic target near the border with Poland. Polish fighters were scrambled on alert. Kinzhal hypersonic missiles were launched from three directions and four Kh-101 cruise missiles are believed to have hit the Stryi region, the target of which was a strategic gas storage facility.
In eastern Ukraine, Russian forces have also launched airstrikes on the city of Kharkiv. At least 10 explosions have been heard in the city. Local reports say the 3rd Thermal Power Plant as well as 3 large industrial plants have been hit.
Several explosions were also recorded in seven different regions of Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian military has also launched attacks on several targets in Russia’s rear. The Russian Defense Ministry announced that it had destroyed 12 Ukrainian drones in six regions of Russia on the night of April 10 (local time). No significant damage has been confirmed.
