Russia provides emergency aid of nearly 30 tons of relief goods to flood-hit areas in Hue

On the morning of October 30, at Noi Bai Airport (Hanoi), the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) received emergency international aid from the Government of the Russian Federation.

The aid includes 58 rescue boats and working boats, 1,000 sets of dishes, 1,000 blankets, 1,000 sets of bedding, 55 tents and a large quantity of canned food, with a total weight of about 29 tons. The shipment was delivered to Noi Bai airport at 6:35 a.m. on October 30 by special aircraft SUM 9121 of the Ministry of Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Relief of the Russian Federation.

At the handover ceremony, Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko handed over the aid to Mr. Nguyen Truong Son, Deputy Director of the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control. After receiving it, the shipment is expected to be delivered to Hue city on October 30 so that the locality can distribute it to people in the disaster area.

Ambassador Gennady Bezdetko expressed his deep condolences to the Government and people of Vietnam for the losses and damages caused by recent floods in the Northern and Central regions, and pledged to continue accompanying Vietnam in natural disaster prevention and control.

Deputy Director of the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control Nguyen Truong Son expressed his gratitude for the valuable support from the Government and people of the Russian Federation, affirming that the Department will take on the role of coordination well, promptly transferring aid goods to the city so that the locality can deliver them to people affected by natural disasters.
