On the podium, my mother was passionate about lectures on Tales of Kieu and Luc Van Tien. In the middle of the market life, my mother worked hard day and night to earn every penny for a living. On November 20, I would like to express my gratitude to my parents.

On the occasion of Vietnam Teachers' Day November 20, reader Le Tan Thoi (a teacher) sent an article to Tuoi Tre Online expressing his feelings and expressing gratitude to his parents.
His parents are also two retired teachers.
Teacher in class, baker in real life
Every time I see the image of women frying bird's nest cakes, I suddenly remember my mother and my poor childhood.
Our childhood gradually became accustomed to the sound of the milk can hitting the bottom of the rice jar, making us feel sad and heartbroken, as well as meals consisting of only vegetable soup and rarely meat or fish.
With a meager teacher's salary, my parents had to struggle to cope with the hardships of life during the subsidy period to raise my siblings and me. Life became more and more difficult, my mother had to make and sell bird's nest cakes to earn a little extra money to take care of the family.
On days when she doesn't have class, my mother goes to the market to sell her goods and doesn't come home until late afternoon.
On the podium, my mother was passionate about lectures on the Tale of Kieu and Luc Van Tien. In the middle of the market, my mother had to work hard day and night, sweetly inviting people to buy cakes to earn every penny for a living.
How lovely it is to see my mother sitting by the blazing fire in the hot sun frying each cake.
It's really hard for mom on rainy days, having to deal with the weather and praying to sell everything quickly so she can return home early to her family.
My mother’s bird’s nest cakes helped my family make ends meet at that time. How could I forget the day I entered high school? Holding in my hand the coins that my mother had painstakingly saved for me to buy notebooks at the beginning of the school year, I suddenly felt my nose sting.
Years passed, life was stable. Every time the whole family gathered together, we asked my mother to make us bird’s nest cakes as if to recall the memories of a difficult time. My mother’s bird’s nest cakes taught me simple but meaningful lessons in being a human being.
I feel the love and sharing with everyone in the family. I know the true value of money earned by my own hands. I understand that when facing difficulties and obstacles in life, people must have the will and determination to overcome them to stand firm in life.
I have participated in writing articles to introduce students with difficult circumstances as well as unfortunate lives for charity programs of newspapers and radio stations, including the program My friend - the person who overcomes difficulties of Tuoi Tre so that everyone can join hands to help them overcome adversity.
Now, I am no longer a little boy and my parents' hair has gradually turned gray over the years.
The most respected and dedicated teacher
I always consider my parents as my two most respected and devoted teachers. The knowledge and experience that my parents imparted to me helped me a lot in life. I also learned the best things from my grandparents to form my personality.
Since I was a child, my father has left a deep impression on me. Whenever I had questions about a certain issue, he would advise me to read related books, magazines, etc. to find the answer. Only when I was really “stuck” would he explain.
Through his guidance, I gradually got into the habit of self-studying and reading. In his spare time, my father often told me legends, fairy tales, and historical stories...
Through his stories and analysis, I learned lessons for myself and developed the ability to think more scientifically and deeply.
As a teacher, I am very interested in my children's foreign language learning, especially English.
To be honest, learning English was a reluctant thing for me when I was young. I learned for my father’s pleasure and didn’t care about how I learned it or the results. As time went by, when I realized the importance of knowing a foreign language, I paid more attention to improving my English, especially my communication skills.
My father always encouraged me to use English in my daily life. Gradually my language knowledge and skills improved with his dedicated guidance.
When I went to Malaysia to study, with my English skills, I was very confident in communication as well as learning new things at work.
In my heart, I always consider my parents as teachers - the ones who taught me how to live, love and share.
