Information at the press conference said that the first Cultural Festival of ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people in Lai Chau province (Festival) in 2023 with the theme "Preserving, promoting and spreading the traditional cultural identity of ethnic groups with very small populations" was organized to implement the policy of solidarity and equality among ethnic groups.

At the same time, honoring and promoting the cultural identity of ethnic groups with very few people, contributingto educating the younger generation to respect national consciousness and be aware of protecting traditional culture. This is also an opportunity to spread and promote the traditional cultural identity of ethnic minorities, especially ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people to domestic and international friends, contributing to building an advanced Vietnamese culture with a strong national identity...

Accordingly, the 2023 Festival will have the participation of artists and actors from 14 ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people nationwide, including: O Du, Brau, Ro Mam, Pu Peo, Si La, Cong, Bo Y, Co Lao, Mang, Lo Lo, Chut, Lu, Pa Then and Ngai. In addition, the Festival will also have the participation of an art troupe from Yunnan province (China) and travel businesses from Laos.

Mr. Luong Chien Cong, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lai Chau province, said that within the framework of the Festival, there will be many attractive cultural, sports and tourism activities, divided into two main parts: the ceremony and the festival. The highlight of the ceremony is the opening ceremony taking place at 8:00 p.m. on November 3 at the People's Square of Lai Chau City (Lai Chau province) and the activity of offering flowers to the statue of Uncle Ho with the ethnic people of Lai Chau.

The festival includes cultural activities such as performances, introduction of festival excerpts, traditional cultural rituals of ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people; mass art festivals and performances of traditional costumes of ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people; Vietnam - China art exchange (hosted by Lai Chau province) and traditional sports activities such as tug of war, crossbow shooting, stick pushing...

At the Festival, there will also be activities to promote tourism and typical agricultural products, gratitude activities, meetings with typical artisans, people who have made many contributions to the work of preserving and transmitting the traditional culture of the 14 ethnic groups mentioned above.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy said that the activities at the Festival aim to honor unique cultural subjects; introduce typical beauty and unique characteristics in the culture of each ethnic group. Thereby, contributing to spreading the tradition of patriotism, national pride and raising awareness and responsibility of all levels, sectors and all classes of people in the work of preserving and promoting the cultural identity of the community of 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam.

The first Cultural Festival of ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people in Lai Chau province in 2023 will take place from November 3-5 in Lai Chau city (Lai Chau province) with the participation of artisans, artists, actors, and mass athletes of ethnic groups from 11 provinces (Lai Chau, Cao Bang, Thai Nguyen, Dien Bien, Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang, Nghe An, Quang Binh and Kon Tum) and the coordination of the organization of central agencies, departments, ministries and branches.
