(GLO) - To boost morale and encourage students to pass the 2023 high school graduation exam, youth organizations and people in Gia Lai province have implemented many practical and meaningful activities.

Duc Co District has two examination centers at Le Hoan High School and Quang Trung Secondary School, with over 700 candidates participating in this year's high school graduation exam. Before the exam, the Duc Co District Youth Union requested the Youth Unions of high schools in the district to gather information on candidates from distant areas, those facing difficulties, and those needing accommodation, in order to implement appropriate support plans. Through surveys, 30 candidates from the communes of Ia Dok, Ia Pnon, Ia Din, Ia Lang, and Ia Nan were arranged by the District Youth Union to stay at Tu Quang Pagoda (Chu Ty town).

Thirteen volunteers, along with Buddhist followers from Tu Quang Pagoda, cooked vegetarian meals for the candidates staying at the exam site in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings. They also prepared an additional 50 meals per day to donate to candidates at the two exam locations. After finishing the Literature exam on the morning of June 28th, Hoang Thi My Hanh (Dong Tam 1 village, Ia Din commune) and her friends returned to the pagoda to eat and rest. Hanh shared: “My home is far from the exam site, so I registered to stay at the pagoda. After eating, I had time to review my knowledge for the next exam. The volunteers were very enthusiastic and thoughtful in their support.”

In addition to cooking, the Duc Co District Youth Union also deployed volunteer forces at the two examination sites. Banners, slogans, hand sanitizer, drinking water, etc., were fully equipped at the examination sites to provide free services to candidates when needed. Mr. Le Trong Phuc, Secretary of the District Youth Union, shared: "The 'Exam Support and Counseling' program is organized annually by the District Youth Union to encourage and support the candidates. For candidates who arrive late, volunteers contact their families or go to their homes to pick them up and bring them to the examination sites on time."

During the exam period, the Krong Pa District Youth Union also established a volunteer team of 53 volunteers who took turns on duty at two exam locations: Chu Van An High School and Nguyen Du High School, to be ready to support the candidates. Nay Chuong, a member of the Standing Committee of the Krong Pa District Youth Union, shared: "63 students from Dinh Tien Hoang High School took the exam at Chu Van An High School. We contacted and arranged accommodation for them at the District Ethnic Boarding Junior High School. Based on social resources, the District Youth Union provided 126 breakfast meals and 10 bottles of filtered water for the students during the two official exam days. The District Youth Union's motorbike taxi team was also on standby to assist students with transportation from their accommodation to the exam location." A new feature of this year's exam was the District Youth Union's coordination with the District Police to issue citizen identification cards and activate electronic identification accounts for parents and students right at the exam support area.

Along with the volunteer team, many local residents have also participated in activities to support candidates and their families. One of the organizations that has been participating in exam support for many years is the 5S Bookstore (79A Ton Duc Thang Street, Pleiku City). For the past four years, the Bookstore has organized activities to support exam candidates. Mr. Vu Van Tuyen, owner of Nui Lu Farm (Hoa Phu commune, Chu Pah district), the founder of the Bookstore, said: “In the past, when I took the university entrance exam in Binh Duong or Ho Chi Minh City, I also received very enthusiastic support. Now, I want to do the same for the students.”

According to Mr. Tuyen, three years ago, he provided all drinks completely free of charge to exam candidates and their families. However, this year, due to financial difficulties, the Bookstore has decided to sell all drinks at a flat price of 10,000 VND per cup of coffee, fruit juice, etc., from June 25th to 29th (with a 50% discount or more per cup). For the entire month leading up to the exam, the Bookstore also charged a flat price of 10,000 VND per cup of water for all students who came here to prepare for the exam.

Sitting and resting at the Book Station while waiting for his daughter, Hoang Thi Kim Hoa (Class 12A4, Hoang Hoa Tham High School), to finish her second exam, Mr. Hoang Cao Dang (Yar village, Chu Dang Ya commune, Chu Pah district) said: He traveled 17 km to bring his daughter to the exam site. He didn't order any drinks to save money, but the staff still served him free tea.

Smiling happily at the warmth and kindness shown during the exam season, Mr. Dang recounted: “My daughter has been an excellent student for two consecutive years. This morning, she said she did very well on the exam. This afternoon, the two of us will return home, and tomorrow we'll be back early. We are very happy that there are so many activities supporting students during the exam season.”

Living next to the exam center at Phan Boi Chau High School, Ms. Tran Thi Ly (38D Hung Vuong Street, Pleiku City) has set up a free support station with pastries, drinks, and school supplies… “I’ve been doing this for many years now. It’s a small thing, but I hope I can accompany and support the students to do well in their exams after 12 years of hard work,” Ms. Ly shared.
