On June 22, at the Da Nang City Administrative Center, the Da Nang City People's Committee held a ceremony to announce the Prime Minister's decision to establish the Da Nang Free Trade Zone.
Attending the ceremony were Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh emphasized that the first free trade zone implemented in our country in Da Nang shows that the Central Committee, the Politburo , and the National Assembly give Da Nang very special attention, with specific economic resolutions and resolutions promulgating very open and outstanding mechanisms.
"When we start the construction of the Free Trade Zone, it is seen as connecting us to the global economy, creating a boost for the economy not only of Da Nang now but also of Da Nang in the future when it merges with Quang Nam," Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh said.

On this occasion, the People's Committee of Da Nang City awarded a memorandum of understanding on investment in the Da Nang Free Trade Zone to 8 strategic investors: Joint venture of Newtechco Group Joint Stock Company and Phytopharco Vietnam Co., Ltd.; Terne Holdings Group and The One Destination; Phuong Trang Investment Joint Stock Company; BRG Group; Saigon Da Nang Investment Joint Stock Company; Sun Group; Thanh Binh Phu My Joint Stock Company; Lien Thai Binh Duong Import-Export Co., Ltd.
At the same time, the People's Committee of Da Nang City granted a notice allowing project investment research to 4 investors: Amata Vietnam Public Joint Stock Company, Green Ipark Joint Stock Company; Quoc Quang Electric Company Limited; and European Plastic Joint Stock Company.

At the ceremony, Mr. Le Trung Chinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City provided orientations, development roadmap, planning locations, and incentive mechanisms to attract domestic and foreign investors to devote resources to the Da Nang Free Trade Zone.
The Da Nang Free Trade Zone is developed in conjunction with the International Financial Center to turn Da Nang into a high-quality service center, creating a driving force to promote not only the Central - Central Highlands region, the East - West economic corridor but also become an important link connecting Asia - Pacific and the world.

Implementing the Prime Minister's decision, Da Nang City proposed 7 locations and selected strategic investors, attracting secondary investors.
In which, one of the strategic investors Sun Group invests in construction and business of infrastructure of functional areas 5, 6 and 7, scale 645 hectares.
In Hoa Ninh and Hoa Nhon communes (Hoa Vang district), a high-quality commercial - service and resort complex will be built, focusing on eco-tourism and health care services with villas, resorts and entertainment facilities, a system of duty-free shops, shopping centers and high-end services.
Of which, 90 hectares in Hoa Ninh commune (area 5) have clean land, and the city is currently completing procedures to start infrastructure construction.
The 7 initial planned locations of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone are located in Hoa Vang District and Lien Chieu District.

Location 7 (401 hectares in Hoa Nhon and Hoa Phu communes, Hoa Vang district) is oriented to develop into a digital economic zone, IT and innovation combined with trade and services, to create a scientific complex.
This area has unique complex facilities such as schools, hospitals, cultural and sports centers, residential areas, creating a living environment for the intellectual and expert community.
In addition, locations 1, 2 and 3 (677 hectares, Hoa Hiep Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District and Hoa Lien Commune, Hoa Vang District) will be logistics centers connected to Lien Chieu Port and Kim Lien Railway Station, distribution centers, bonded warehouses, warehouse areas, pre-processing areas for re-export, Cu De Riverside Road and the north connecting to the airport via the Western Belt 2.
Location 4 (559 ha, Hoa Ninh commune) is a high-value production area, taking advantage of the high-tech park ecosystem, Hoa Ninh Industrial Park creates an industrial and high-tech center in the western region.
Propose potential locations when entering Quang Nam province
Mr. Ta Quoc Bao, Deputy General Director of Thanh Binh Phu My Joint Stock Company, shared that according to the memorandum of understanding, the unit will invest in the construction and business of infrastructure of functional area No. 4 with the Phu My 3 Da Nang FTZ Industrial Park project, with a scale of 346 million USD.
The orientation of the industries in this project includes the fields of energy industry production, renewable energy, green industry, biological industry, pharmaceutical industry, electronics, IT, food processing, etc.

"The Da Nang Free Trade Zone is expected to be a modern, smart, highly competitive economic ecosystem, creating spillover effects, contributing to enhancing Vietnam's position in the region and internationally. The establishment of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone opens a new development phase for Da Nang, and is also a strong statement of the Government's determination to experiment and make institutional breakthroughs to create an international development space, capable of leading green growth, innovation and attracting strategic investment," said Mr. Le Trung Chinh.
Currently, Da Nang City is focusing on a series of tasks, proposing to supplement new, more open and superior mechanisms and policies, researching and proposing to develop the Da Nang Free Trade Zone after merging with Quang Nam province in the direction of expanding new potential locations, as well as exploiting the sea space reasonably.
