US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is about to visit a series of countries from Europe to the Middle East.

On February 12, US State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce announced that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will visit Germany, Israel, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

TASS news agency reported that, according to information from Ms. Bruce, Secretary of State Rubio will travel to Munich (Germany) on February 13 to attend the Munich Security Conference (February 14-16) to discuss a series of US priorities with international partners.

While in Munich, Secretary Rubio will also attend the G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting. He will then visit Israel, Saudi Arabia and the UAE from February 15-18.

A US State Department spokesman said Mr. Rubio's meeting with senior officials would advance US interests in enhancing regional stability, peace and cooperation.

According to her, the trip will focus on releasing American and other foreign hostages being held by Hamas, moving into phase two of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip as well as dealing with "destabilizing activities of the Iranian regime and its proxy forces".

Earlier, on February 4, US President Donald Trump said at a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House that the US was considering taking over the Gaza Strip to develop the area for Middle East peace.

The 47th White House boss also proposed relocating Palestinians from Gaza to other countries in the region, saying that these countries could pay for the plan. Arab countries, Iran and some Western countries have opposed Mr. Trump's proposal.
