Fishermen stick to the sea to provide fresh seafood for the holidays

At Con Go fishing port (Cam Nhuong commune, Cam Xuyen district), the working atmosphere is bustling.

Mr. Hoang Hieu (Hai Bac village, Cam Nhuong commune, Cam Xuyen) shared: "Usually we will depart at 4 pm every day and return early the next morning. Each offshore trip lasts 10 - 12 hours. It is the peak season for seafood consumption, prices of all kinds of goods have increased by 10 - 20%, so fishermen have more motivation to stay at sea every day."

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Hung - Chairman of Cam Nhuong Commune People's Committee, the whole commune currently has more than 200 boats and about 1,000 fishermen regularly fishing. During the April 30 and May 1 holidays, Ha Tinh attracts many tourists to visit and relax, so the demand for seafood consumption increases, motivating fishermen to actively go offshore and stick to the sea.

After the offshore trip, at dawn the next day, Con Go fishing port was bustling with fishermen's boats returning with fresh catches of fish and squid.

As dawn broke, ships carrying "sea blessings" arrived one after another. The atmosphere of buying and selling became bustling.

Fresh batches of fish are brought ashore one after another, bringing joy to fishermen and traders.

On this occasion, many tourists when coming to Thien Cam beach (Cam Xuyen) do not forget to experience the early market with fishermen and traders. "Not only do we get to watch the beautiful sunrise on the sea, we also spend time going to the fish market, immersing ourselves in the working atmosphere of the people, and being able to choose fresh seafood ourselves, it is truly an interesting experience" - Mr. Dinh Cong Hoa (tourist from Hanoi ) shared.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan (Cam Nhuong commune, Cam Xuyen) - owner of Nam Lan seafood trading establishment said: "During the tourist season, the demand for seafood consumption increases. Therefore, we also work continuously to ensure the supply for restaurants in the area and neighboring areas. On average, I buy 1 - 2 tons of seafood of all kinds every day. On this occasion, the weather is favorable, fishermen catch many types of seafood, the selling price is high, so buying and selling is also more convenient".

As dawn broke, Cua Sot fishing port (Thach Kim commune, Thach Ha district) - one of the province's largest fishing ports - also burst into new life as ships returned one after another after a sea trip.

Ship owners quickly transported seafood ashore to sell to traders.

Having just returned from a "bumper" fishing trip, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tam - a fisherman in Thach Kim commune (Thach Ha) could not hide his joy: "This trip was a big hit, and it was also the right time for the holidays. The boat brought in more than 1 ton of various types of fish, selling for 70 million VND. We are very excited."

According to information from traders, during the holiday, seafood prices "increased" by about 10 - 15% compared to normal days, making trading activities at the port more exciting. Fresh crabs cost up to 400,000 VND/kg, mantis shrimp ranges from 200,000 - 250,000 VND/kg, squid 350,000 - 400,000 VND/kg, sea shrimp from 300,000 - 420,000 VND/kg depending on the type, mackerel prices remain stable at 200,000 - 220,000 VND/kg,...

Mr. Than Quoc Te - Deputy Director of the Management Board of fishing ports and storm shelters for fishing vessels in Ha Tinh said: "This year's holiday is long, the weather is favorable, the demand for seafood consumption has increased sharply, so fishermen are actively going to sea. Every day, there are about 50 - 60 boats entering and leaving the port, mainly domestic boats fishing in offshore and coastal areas, providing a relatively abundant supply of seafood".
