Adjusting the connection road to Tan Son Nhat airport terminal T3

Recently, the traffic organization of the routes connecting Tan Son Nhat Airport Terminal 3 has not been really convenient to support people's travel. To solve the above problem, on June 13, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction said that the Department's leaders have just directed solutions to ensure traffic order and safety on the routes leading to Terminal T3.

Accordingly, the Department agreed on a plan to adjust traffic organization in the areas. Specifically, at the intersection of Cong Hoa - C12 Street, the intersection will be opened to create a left-turn lane from Cong Hoa Street to C12 Street; a full system of directional signs will be added to ensure traffic safety; the geometric dimensions at Cong Hoa - Truong Chinh intersection will be improved to increase vehicle exit capacity.

At the intersection of 18E Street - Phan Thuc Duyen Street (part of the project to build a road connecting Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa Street), adjust and restore the traffic organization according to the approved design plan (build a small island to help vehicles from the overpass turn left to continuously circulate onto Phan Thuc Duyen Street).

On the road connecting Tran Quoc Hoan – Cong Hoa (road below the overpass):

+ At the exit of T3 terminal (14 exit gates for cars): Remove the median strip, creating conditions for cars from T3 terminal to turn left conveniently and safely.

+ At the entrance to the 2-wheel parking garage of Terminal T3: Open the median strip so that vehicles coming from Truong Chinh Street can directly enter the parking garage.

On Road 18E (overpass section of the Project to build a road connecting Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa Street to the gate of Terminal T3): Organize two-way traffic:

+ Arrange 5 lanes on the right: Organize traffic of all types of vehicles in the direction from the overpass to the gate of T3 terminal.

+ Left lane arrangement: Organize traffic for 2-wheel vehicles (cars are prohibited) in the direction from the T3 terminal gate to the overpass.

On the road connecting Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa (road below the overpass between pillars T6 and T7): Open the median strip to allow vehicles to turn around and travel towards Phan Thuc Duyen Street; at the same time, install a median strip to prevent vehicles from going straight across the exit of Terminal T3.

At the intersection of Phan Thuc Duyen Street - Tran Quoc Hoan Street (on the underpass from Thang Long Street to Tran Quoc Hoan Street): Install a median strip to create a left-hand U-turn lane to allow cars, trucks under 3.5 tons, passenger cars under 25 seats and 2-wheeled vehicles to make U-turns.

At the intersection of Phan Thuc Duyen Street - Thang Long Street: Install mobile barriers on Phan Thuc Duyen Street that can flexibly open and close the intersection and transfer to the Traffic Police Department - Ho Chi Minh City Police to manage, operate and adjust traffic organization when traffic jams occur at this intersection to ensure smooth traffic in and out of T3 terminal.

At the intersection of Cong Hoa Street and 18E Street: Install continuous right turn signals and paint lines to create a continuous right turn lane from Cong Hoa Street (from Ut Tich Street to the intersection) to 18E Street; relocate the bus stop on Cong Hoa Street (before the intersection).

To organize traffic effectively, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction requested the City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board to urgently implement traffic organization adjustments for locations within the scope of the Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road construction project, to be completed before June 20.

Add a signboard installed on the gantry at the location on Phan Thuc Duyen Street (before reaching the intersection of 18E Street - Phan Thuc Duyen Street) to guide 2 lanes on the left (close to the center of the road) to go up the overpass towards Truong Chinh Street, 1 lane on the right (close to the sidewalk) to go into T3 station.

Removing inappropriate signs in front of T3 terminal area

The Department of Construction also requested the Southern Airports Authority, Vietnam Airports Corporation - JSC, and Tan Son Nhat International Airport to promptly deploy measures to ensure traffic safety and order during the operation of Terminal T3 as required by the Ministry of Construction .

At the T3 terminal exit, the units installing signs on the gantry in front of the exit must match the arrow markings on the road. Remove the 20km/h speed limit sign at the overpass connecting to the T3 terminal parking lot.

The Road Traffic Infrastructure Management Center is tasked with urgently implementing traffic organization adjustments at the Truong Chinh - Cong Hoa intersection, Cong Hoa - C12 road intersection, and installing mobile barriers at the Phan Thuc Duyen - Thang Long intersection, to be completed in June.

Coordinate with the Urban Traffic Management and Operation Center to adjust the traffic light cycle according to the green wave at the intersections of Lang Cha Ca Roundabout; Cong Hoa - Ut Tich; Cong Hoa - 18E; Cong Hoa - Hoang Hoa Tham; Truong Chinh - Cong Hoa; Truong Chinh - Pham Van Bach. Adjust the traffic signal system according to the approved traffic organization plan and withdraw all traffic signal systems that are no longer suitable.

In addition, units such as the Urban Traffic Management and Operation Center, the City Technical Infrastructure Management Center, the Public Transport Management Center, and the Department of Construction Inspectorate deployed traffic safety solutions, urgently relocated the bus stop on Cong Hoa Street before reaching the Cong Hoa - 18E intersection (from Ut Tich Street to the intersection) to a suitable location so as not to obstruct the continuous right-turn lane from Cong Hoa Street to 18E Street.

In addition, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction also requested the City Police to focus on thoroughly handling the situation of illegal parking on Phan Thuc Duyen Street (from Thang Long Street to 18E Street).
