On June 18, Dr. Hoang Canh Tung, Nghe An 115 Hospital, said he was treating a male patient who suffered a genital injury in a rare accident.
A 38-year-old male patient from Dien Chau (Nghe An) was brought to the hospital by his family with severe bruising of his private parts and perineum, and a swollen scrotum (20x20cm in size), causing pain.

According to the report, the day before, this man climbed to repair the metal scaffolding, slipped and fell. The fall caused his perineum and genitals to hit an iron pipe.
After the accident, the patient felt sharp pain, bruised and slightly swollen private parts, so he did not go to the doctor. Only when the impacted area was swollen, bruised, and the pain was unbearable did the male patient let his family take him to the hospital.
The patient was examined, had an ultrasound, and had tests done. The results showed that the patient had a serious perineal hematoma, affecting soft tissue structures and blood vessels. Emergency surgery was indicated to avoid serious complications.
The patient is now stable and recovering well.
According to Dr. Hoang Canh Tung, injuries caused by impact in the genital area will have the risk of causing blood clots that compress nearby organs, causing pain and difficulty in movement; damage to the urethra or genital organs, long-term effects on physiological and reproductive functions; high risk of infection if not intervened and treated promptly.
