The match between The Strongest and Blooming in the Bolivian National League ended with a 3-2 victory for the home team, but the highlight of the encounter was a shocking fireworks incident.
Juan Godoy, the striker who scored the winning goal for The Strongest, collapsed on the pitch after being hit in the groin by a firework shortly after the final whistle.
These fireworks, called "llorona," have a rocket-like trajectory and were lit by home fans in the stands to celebrate. However, one of them flew straight towards Godoy, causing him to clutch his groin in pain and requiring medical attention to help him off the pitch.

Juan Godoy was hit directly in the groin by fireworks.
According to El Deber , Godoy suffered first-degree burns to his thigh and a hematoma in the testicular area. Doctors diagnosed him with orchitis (inflammation of the testicles) due to injury. When the incident occurred, fans and staff from both teams panicked and ran off the field to avoid being hit by fireworks.

Many players suffered injuries because of fireworks.
The Strongest's UltraSur fan group has been held responsible. Some sources suggest this was an act of protest against the team's management, but UltraSur insists they were only setting off fireworks to celebrate and issued a public apology: "We never intended to harm any players or coaching staff. We always wanted to cheer, not put anyone in danger."

Juan Godoy was rushed to the hospital and warned of serious injuries.
The Strongest club issued a statement affirming that "this incident will not be allowed to happen again" and said they are working to find those directly responsible for the incident.
The UltraSur group has pledged not to set off fireworks at upcoming matches. The incident is raising concerns about stadium security and the control of fireworks at football matches in Bolivia.
