31-year-old woman rushed to hospital while taking photos at the Red River rock beach

On March 11, 108 Military Central Hospital said that recently, doctors at the hospital's Craniofacial Surgery Department received a patient with severe maxillofacial trauma due to a domestic accident.

The patient, NTA (31 years old, from Hanoi ), was admitted to the 108 Military Central Hospital with multiple injuries to his body. According to his family, the patient had an accident while taking photos at the Red River rock beach. Due to the wet and slippery road surface, the patient slipped and hit his stomach and face hard on a rock.

At the hospital, after examination, the patient was diagnosed with multiple injuries: Grade 3 liver rupture, grade 3 right kidney rupture, closed chest trauma, maxillofacial trauma: Fracture of the lower jaw.

The patient was treated actively, preserving liver and kidney injuries and closed chest injuries. At the same time, the patient was treated with a combination of mandibular correction and screws to improve chewing function and aesthetics.

According to Dr. Le Diep Linh, Head of the Department of Craniofacial Surgery, maxillofacial trauma due to domestic accidents is a common injury, especially during the rainy season. These accidents leave many sequelae such as affecting chewing function and aesthetics due to bad scars and facial deformities if not treated promptly.

Therefore, with maxillofacial injuries in general, patients need to receive first aid and proper treatment at medical facilities with maxillofacial specialties after an accident, to avoid possible unfortunate consequences.

First aid for patients with maxillofacial trauma:

According to Dr. Linh, for people with facial trauma and bleeding, temporary hemostasis is extremely necessary. After that, the patient needs to be taken immediately to a medical facility for further monitoring and treatment.

After an injury, many patients will feel dizzy. In this situation, the patient should rest and limit movement. Ideally, the patient should be placed in a low-head position in a large, airy space.

If you find a patient suffocating due to maxillofacial trauma, the first thing to do is to try to clear their airway. This is a way to increase the patient's survival rate and limit bad complications.
